Our experience started with a call the day before, requesting we move our 2pm flight to a later 4:45pm flight due to an ‘overbooking’ occurring on the earlier flight. We agreed even though it meant we would miss other sunset viewing opportunities. We later discovered this wasn’t the case through one of the staff members and it was instead to benefit their ability to run two back to back flights.
After a 30 second safety briefing, we were allocated our seats in a very small, old helicopter. My daughter and I are both small framed ladies. We were seated in the back seat next to a very tall, broad, large man, which made the journey very cramped and confined - despite the man desperately trying to shrink himself. After the flight, the gentleman commented on his obstructed view due to his height and his inability to be able see out of the window. The situation was so cramped, my daughter had to be shoved in to allow the door to be closed!
I was seated in the middle facing towards a large 6-8” steel pylon. My daughter had a limited view through a small blue tinted window. All other window panels were clear.
Our flight was less than 30 mins and we were back at our accommodation within an hour. Unfortunately, we missed our final sunset experience at Uluṟu as a result.
An underwhelming experience for $570 for two adults. Every other experience at Uluṟu has been outstanding - we covered plenty of them. Don’t waste your time and money on this! Go with the Professional Helicopter Service.
