Good value for money. The food was great and plenty of it. The views were amazing - especially the sunrises and sunsets. Hikes around Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon were enjoyable and not too difficult. Sleeping in a swag was better than I thought it would be and worth it for the star gazing. A fair bit of driving had to be done due to the distance between places. Our tour guide Phil was great!

I was booked onto the Mulgas Adventures Rock to Rock tour through a travel agency, so had little idea what to expect. It was certainly outside of my comfort zone, being on the other side of the world in such an alien place! That being said, I had a truly amazing time. I think the memories from the trip will last with me for a lifetime. And the song "Chateau" used at one of the 3:45am wake ups is a new favourite and the soundtrack to my Antipodean trip.
The pros:
1. Incredibly experienced guide - All credit goes to Liv, she was very kind, professional and I really liked her positive attitude.
2. Authentic - I really feel like I have experienced the Australian Bush, you get a feel for the vastness, the heat, and the incredible otherworldliness of this special place.
3. I really appreciate the "character building" element of the tour, the fact it is so rustic and requires self reliance. Sleeping in swags outside, drop toilets, cooking for yourself; for somebody from urban Britain it was an important experience. I won't pretend it was always sunshine and rainbows, but that was part of what made the tour so special. You just have to embrace it and keep a positive attitude.
4. Following on from this, the sunrises and the stars were incredible. I have definitely recommended this to my astronomically minded friend.
5. Uluru and Kata Tjuta are places everyone should see if they can. Particularly at sunrise and sunset.
Once again, huge compliments to Liv and the other people on my tour. She (and they) made for an unforgettable experience.

Can’t recommend this tour enough. We had an amazing 4 days exploring Uluru, with great company and amazing food. As a vegetarian I can highly recommend, I was very well catered for, and no one was ever left hungry! The camping experience is one of a kind, and I’m very glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, I would 100% do it again. A special mention for our tour guide Alex, his knowledge and passion was fab, and he was brilliant company, definitely made our experience even better. Small tip if you’re looking at this tour, book directly through Mulga rather than an external travel company :)

What a fantastic tour we had! Done the 4 days camping in a swag and loved every bit of it. The scenery is just stunning, a lot of very special places to see in the red center! The tour takes you to a lot of different places and walks around Uluru and Kings Canyon, sunrises, bubbles at sunset, even got to see some camels 😃. Very well organized as well regarding food and camping, we had a bbq, got to try camel burger and kangoroo steak, made a bonfire, sone relaxing time at the pool when the midday heat gets to much etc. And Liv our tourguide did an amazing job keeping the whole group in line and making the trip a fun one. She also had lots of interesting information about the area, cultural stories, plants, history etc. Nice to have a guide you could see loves the job and area, makes it fun trip plus lots to learn. Thanks very much, would recommend it anytime!

The 4 day trip was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide Phil was brilliant which made the whole tour run so smoothly. The experience felt more like a trip with a large group of friends than a 'tour'. The food was lovely and the group work was well coordinated. It was an incredible experience in an amazing part of Australia, Would definitely recommend!

G'day Ella, Thank you for your glowing review! Phil would be thrilled to hear that it felt more like a journey with friends rather than a tour. Your recommendation means a lot! Cheers, Andrea

I cannot recommend Mulga’s enough, we did the 3 night camping trip and it was an amazing experience I will never forget. Liv our tour guide was just the best, friendly, funny, so knowledgeable and looked after us so well. Mulgas is a tour like no other and I would highly recommend!

The tour does the job and you visit Uluru, Kata Tjuta and king's canyon.
But there is a lot of free time (everyday around 5 hours) and it would be good that they have some boardgames (they only have a few Trivia cards) or propose some activities.
It would be a nice detail from them to offer sunscreen and bugspray, specially when the swag are old and without poles so you end up sleeping with your face and arms out and get smash by mosquitos.
And this brings up the worst detail, which are the swags, old, dirty and don't offer an option to cover yourself properly, bearing in mind they charge $700 and we were 21 people, I am sure they could do an upgrade on them.

Hi mate - appreciate you taking the time to share your review and feedback. I'm sorry to hear that the tour didn't fully meet your expectations. Given the longer days during this time of year, we do intentionally allow for some additional free time, where guests can take the time to relax by the pool, take a swim or simply unwind at camp. We note your suggestion regarding sunscreen and bug sprays. While we do include these items in our "What to bring" list, we understand that personal preferences and allergies vary.
Regarding the swags, it's important to clarify that the style we provide is the classic "outback swag" as showcased on our website. These are not the more modern fancy ones with poles, and we appreciate your understanding of this distinction. Your feedback is crucial, and we hope that despite these aspects, you found moments to enjoy during your time with us. Cheers, Andrea

I was looking in the internet an organized tour for Ayers Rock and when I found the Mulgas' one I was a bit scared to go because I was alone. I'm grateful I did it because I found amazing people! I have to say that Alex (the guide) was great! He loves what he does and he made sure we always felt good in what we were doing. I've never done camping before (and it's probably not my favourite thing) but I must admit that experiencing the outback in the way this tour allows you to experience it, it's wonderful. Being able to sleep with friends under the stars in the middle of nowhere it's something you have to do once in a life! I don't know what else to say if not thank you all! Grazie❤

I had such a great experience with Mulgas. Camping in the outback was on my bucket list of things to do while backpacking and I am so lucky I stumbled upon Mulgas. Our guide Liv was awesome, made sure the experience was very smooth and was well spoken and always had snacks ready. The views and experience oml just go do it yourself it can’t be put into words. Also passing along the info if you book through their website you get a free t shirt :) thx again guys <3

Hello there,
I was wondering if you have the possibility to store bulky baggage at the beginning of the trip to be picked up again on departure. Thanks!

Hi there, if you are staying and returning to accommodation in Alice Springs, yes you can leave you luggage safely. If you join the tour at Ayers Rock airport, your bulky luggage will experience every km and sunset with us ;)

Hello,
when is drop-off at Ayers Rock airport on the fourth day? Could one still fly out to Sydney that day?

hello there,
I just need to confirm that if we are flying to Uluru from Melbourne and staying at the resort can you pick us up and drop at the resort?
Thankyou

They sure can! Yulara is such a small town centre and our guide was very flexible with dropping people off to resorts/hotels/Uluru airport. Just need to let them know before your trip so they can plan accordingly.
Hi, do you have tours for visitors arriving at Ayers Rock Airport on midday day and departing from Ayers Rock Airport the next day afternoon?
Mulgas Adventures
Alice Springs, Australia4 contributions
Hi, thanks for your query. Our shortest tour is our 3 day Rock trip that can start in Ayers Rock, but will finish in Alice Springs on day 3. You could always join the 3 day trip and we can leave you at Ayers Rock instead of you joining us the the 2nd night. The cost will be the same though as it is a seat taken.
Cheers

I'm planning to do this trip last week of December. How hot does it get? Can you give me an idea of how much time is spent in the bus vs. hiking/walking in the sun? Does it cool down quickly in the evening at camp sites? I really want to experience Uluru but unfortunately sensitive to heat and UV. I'm trying to see if I can do this trip or need to change plans.
Thanks

Hi Anne, I went in early November and it already got to be around 40 degrees Celsius by about 11 am. The good news is that my tour guide had us out of the hiking and onto the bus by 11 the 2nd and 3rd day. I did the for days and three night tour which includes Uluru, Kata tjuta, and kings canyon. The trip is set up in such a way that we were done hiking by around 11 am every day so that we miss the bulk of the heat. That being said, it gets hotter during summer (December) so I might recommend going in July (winter) is you have a real problem with heat. That being said, it was completely worth it and the worst part was actually the flies, not the heat. During the night it cools down a bit,bit I just slept on top of my swag and sleeping bag because it was still relatively warm, but by the middle of the night it was considerably cooler. On the tour, we woke up before sunrise so the driving in the afternoon is actually really nice because we got to sleep on the bus and then be ready for evening activities. I hope this helps!! Just make sure to buy a fly night for hiking!

Hi Nik
It can be quite cool in August a t night but you can hire a sleeping bag which is rated to -7 degrees so you will be very warm. bring a beanie and warm socks and you will be fine.
