Ayers Rock Day Trip from Alice Springs Including Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Sunset BBQ Dinner

279 reviews
Navigating the vastness of Australia’s outback is a daunting task, even for the most experienced travelers. Eliminate the stress of car-hire and map-reading on a hassle-free trip to Ayers Rock (Uluru) and The Olgas (Kata Tjuta) from Alice Springs—an easy way for first-time visitors to see more desert sights in less time. Plus, unlike other conventional Ayers Rock tours, you’ll enjoy a sunset Aussie barbecue overlooking Uluru.

It was a great little pit stop away from the hot sun of outdoors. The short film and lesson to watch were really terrific. We loved this place

We visited the School of the Air as part of an off train Ghan excursion. It was far more interesting than I thought it would be, especially being able to watch actual classes being delivered live. This is an impressive operation and the staff are clearly passionate about the important work that they are doing. Several interesting displays to check out as well as a gift store with all proceeds going to the school.

Having taken my share of online classes, it came as a surprise to me to learn that SOTA will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next year. From its early days communicating with kids throughout Australia via ham radio to more modern satellite-based internet connections today, they have an impressive program, and the tour is, dare I say, educational. Worth a visit if you're in Alice Springs.

Don't miss this experience, in observing the students in far away station properties, learning all about life and education in the world's largest class room, 1.300,000 square kilometres, it was a real eye opener for us city residents. Don't forget to donate some books to the distant students.

I honestly wasn't expecting this to be such an interesting tour, but I'm glad I got the chance to visit. I think this is an especially interesting place to visit for educators and radio equipment nerds (I am neither), but worth checking out.
