Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is an old mission which has been kept intact. It is also the birth place of Aboriginal painter Albert Namatjira. The history of the mission and its different houses, its school, its church, its tannery etc... is very well explained. Interestingly the German Lutheran missionaries respected the local culture and language of the native people. The small art gallery displays a statue of Namatjira and paintings from his children. The shop sells souvenirs and Aboriginal paintings at a very good price. Bring your own picnic and drinks since the place does not get enough visitors at present to open its eatery.

Couldn't rate highly enough. Guide was very knowledgeable, but not in a bookish way. Provided info through very natural conversation. Tweaked the tour to suit our wants/needs. No rushing, just let us enjoy the beautiful natural surrounds.

We just completed 1.5 days touring the wonderful MacDonnell Ranges with Kimberley. We had a great time! Kimberley was informative, attentive, organised, security minded and fun to be with. We visited Hermannsburg on the first day which we highly recommend as Kimberley ensured we got to speak to local people and really get a sense of what it is like growing up and working in communities such as this. The second day was hiking in the Eastern MacDonnell ranges, specifically John Hayes and Chain of Ponds Loop and N'Dhala Gorge, which was topped off with lunch at Ross River Homestead. 1.5 days is not enough to see everything we wanted to see in the region so we will definitely be coming back, and we will be definitely booking Kimberley again. Thank you Kimberley for a very memorable visit.

We did a 10 hour private tour that was customized to include the Walk and Waterhole Tour in West MacDonnell Ranges and a visit to the Hermennsburg historical site.

Kimberly is an excellent. guide. She has a through knowledge of the flora , fauna, Aboriginal culture and lifestyles, and the local history.. And she drives her 4 WD vehicle safely over roads that at times are barely passable rven with a 4WD. Finally, she is very friendly and graciously shared personal stories. We would have done another tour with her if we had planned to spend more time in Alice Springs.

We chose a custom tour because my wife has some mobility issues, and Kimberley provided the perfect experience. This tour features indigenous artists as well as learning about the history and culture of the area. Kimberley provided lots of local knowledge, with everything at the pace we needed. She is also a great host and understood what we were interested in. Highly recommended.
We also did the West MacDonnell tour with Kimberley which features beautiful scenery as well as Kimberley's local understanding (see separate review).

We booked the Private Tour of Finke Gorge NP including Palm Valley. Kimberley was the perfect host whose knowledge of flora and fauna was excellent. She took us on the Kalarranga and Arankaia walks, explaining plants and other items of interest in a unhurried way. We were impressed by her attention to safety in what was a remote and hazardous but beautiful landscape.
A thoroughly enjoyable day out and well worth the cost of a private tour.

An outstanding day on a private tour in the 4WD and hiking into the Finke Gorge - absolute highlight of our trip! Our guide Kimberley was fantastic- knowledgeable, helpful , considerate and kept us safe. I over-heated and she was quick to notice; had a wet towel for my neck ; gave me a hydrolyte drink and had me resting in the shade immediately. She knows the countryside, flora/fauna and was respectful and knowledgeable of local lore. The scenery is mesmerising up close and having a private guide was the best treat - very highly recommended!

Four of us booked a private half-day tour with Kimberley. Two of us are great-grandchildren of one of the early missionaries, intent on learning more of life on the mission in the 1880s-1890s. Kimberley led us on a delightful and informative tour that included morning tea and a chat with Mildred (a local indigenous woman with extensive family connections to the mission), a guided tour of the historic precinct, a visit to Bethlehem church with one of its current pastors, and on our return to Alice Springs, an information session with two volunteer historians at the Strehlow Research Centre and Finke River Mission compound. We all thoroughly enjoyed every part of the tour, and highly recommend Kimberley's organisational skills and knowledge of the culture and environment of the Arrernte people.
