- Lori N7 contributionsRescue sanctuary for kangaroos well worth visiting!Brolga is doing amazing work with orphaned and rescued kangaroos. During the tour, he'll take you through the sanctuary and give so much interesting information about what he does and about kangaroos. This is an ethical place; not roos captured in the wild and placed in a zoo. Highly recommend!A great description of our tour. Thank you so much and take care. - FourborngirlsWilmington, North Carolina114 contributionsONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES IN OUR LIFEWe stepped off the Bus to be greeted by a wonderful man named Brolga. His love for the kangaroos is extraordinary! We felt so happy being there! I cried being able to hold the babies. Feeding the Kangaroos. Hearing Brolga's stories. He rescues babies from the streets where their mothers have been hit by a vehicle. He influenced all in the group to stop and care for the babies, keep a pillowcase in your car. Please help save the babies! This was one of the best experiences in our lives. THANK YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY for your interest in God's beautifully designed Kangaroos. Big hugs to you all for all your hard work. To your team and wife and everyone involved. WE will tell everyone about this trip. Thanks to our dear friends Sue and Steve Scheyer for taking us. :)Thank you so much for your wonderful and kind words. We are so glad your visit was such a highlight. Enjoy the rest of your travels! - bethan c1 contributionFantastic ExperienceBrolga was an amazing, enthusiastic guide. This experience was our first thing in Australia and we were absolutely amazed! During the tour we learned all about red kangaroos, how they become orphans , and what we can do to help. Brolga is extremely passionate about these animals and his passion is contagious. During the tour we also had amazing experiences with the kangaroos, including; holding one of Brolgas joeys, bottle feeding a kangaroo and stroking lots of the tame kangaroos in his sanctuary. An amazing experience that has made me want to move to Australia (to help the kangaroos!)!!Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 July 2023

- AKNorwich, United Kingdom34 contributionsHighly recommended. So worth visitingThis whole place is magical. Brolga is the most amazing person. It’s such an honour to visit here and learn so much about kangaroos and how we can help protect them. To watch the Roos as the sun goes down and see the rapport that they build with those helping them is truly awesome. Wandering through the bushland with the Roos hopping alongside in the peace and quiet of the wonderful Australian scenery is unforgettable. My husband I and two friends visited in November 2022. We can’t wait to return again one day. A visit here is hard to describe in its entirety. You have to experience it for yourself. It is highly recommended as something you will do in life and never forget. Thank you Brolga. Thank you Kangaroos and dear Joeys. A. The tour through the Kangaroo Sanctuary is so interesting, beautiful and memorable. You learn so much while holding a cute little baby kangaroo and petting grown ups. Chris is so funny and kind, you will enjoy the ride from the beginning to the end and every second in between. The area is beautiful. Especially at sunset. Even the bus driver who takes you there is so nice. You really don’t wanna miss it.Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 23 August 2023
- Robert D2,698 contributionsA must see in Alice SpringsI visited The Kangaroos Sanctuary in the late afternoon. Kangaroos sleep during the day so they only have tours at sunset, as the roos are waking up. The Kangaroo Sanctuary is home to baby kangaroos whose mothers were killed by cars. They hand-rear the joeys until they are old enough to be released back into the wild. They also have other adult kangaroos who can't be released since they have a disability which would make it impossible for them to survive in the wild. Red Kangaroos are the world's largest marsupial and are native to this part of Australia. The founder of the sanctuary is called "Brolga" because he is 200 cm./6'7" tall. He is currently "kangaroo mother" to 27 babies he rescued. He has a rapport with the kangaroos and was a wonderful guide. Joeys are raised in pairs for companionship and also so they can use their mate's heat to keep warm. They are placed in pillow cases to mimic their mother's pouch. Everyone on the tour was required to hold a joey for a little while and pass the joey to another tour participant. These joeys are 7 months old and I got to hold both of them. You can also see a beautiful sunset.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 3 November 2023

Brolga's Kangaroo Sanctuary is a must-see for all visitors to the Alice.
A great learning experience for kids to see baby orphaned kangaroos up close and to learn how they lost their mothers. Informative for the grown ups as well.

An absolutely wonderful evening! Brolga was the very best of hosts - warm, friendly, entertaining and hugely knowledgeable and interesting about his work and the kangaroos he is caring for. It felt a real privilege to meet him, walk around the sanctuary and most of all, actually get to hold one of the adorable orphaned joeys. My husband and I felt that this was probably one of the most memorable days of our lives! Highly recommended!

So very pleased to be able to schedule a visit during our couple of days in Alice Springs, would have hated to to miss this experience &, as far as we're concerned, this is the very best thing to do in Alice Springs & ranks among the top of our entire trip to OZ & NZ! What a joy to be able to actually hold a baby kangaroo (June & Joey in my case.) & interact with some of the injured adults!!
The Story is impressive, while also being informative, humorous (beyond the tragedy of the events that make the Sanctuary necessary) & entertaining, & I encourage everyone to check out "Kangaroo Dundee" on the internet. Immense dedication to their purpose, including the many dedicated volunteers who aid Broiga with rescuing & the necessary steps to raising rescued baby kangaroos to return to the wild.
This is not 'slick & cushy/undemanding' experience - weather, including heat, walking & standing for more than an hour are all factors, but so worthwhile. In this regard, since I'm 70 & have 2 bad knees, if a few more sitting places could possibly & reasonably be incorporated, that would be Great!
Humane, Ecological & Thought Provoking are aspects of this experience that we (& especially, teaching children) really need. Our experience has made us donors to this effort.

Hi I am about to purchase a flight to Alice Spring for Sept. I was wondering if you had Sept 2nd available for a tour? On your website it doesn't show anything available after August 31st. Could you please let me know so I can book everything else before the prices go up. Your help is much appreciated.

We would like to visit in April 2021, will you be open?
I will be staying in Ayers Rock. Is there transportation to the Sanctuary from Ayers Rock to the Sanctuary or do I need to drive to Alice Springs? What time does the bus pickup for the tour?

There is transportation from local hotels in Alice Springs to the Kangaroo Sanctuary which can be arranged on booking tickets for their sunset tour, but Ayers Rock is about 5 hours drive away so you will need to either book a mini stay to Alice from Ayers Rock that maybe incorporates the sanctuary or yes, drive yourself would think.

Is there an age minimum to visit? We have a toddler that will be just short of 3 when we come, and we’d like to bring him with us.

Hi. We don’t have an age limit. All kids five and under must be carried. And kangaroos scare easily so we can’t clap, jump, shout, etc. Otherwise all the kangaroos hop away. Strollers can’t be taken into our sanctuary. Hope that helps. Cheers
