This was my favorite thing to do do in Alice so far and I'm surprised it's not higher on the list. There isn't any mountain as high that is nearly as doable as Gillen in the area. The hike and boldering-like climbing can be done...More

This is not a climb for those who are not sure footed or reasonably fit. Has some very steep slippery gradients with a final small cliff face to climb which can be very dangerous if you were to slip coming down. The path to the...More

Right in the middle of the Red Centre sits Alice Springs. A little outback ''city'' with all the mod cons you would expect to find on the coast. It is surrounded by the West McDonnell Ranges which form a backdrop for this great little outback...More

Early start, but should have been earlier - takes about 45mins to complete the climb (and it is a climb, you need to be pretty fit to reach the top). Sunrise was 6.30pm but gets bright about 6 - recommend you be there at least...More

Excellent views over Alica and beyond. The walk has a challenging final climb but well worth the effort.

not for the faint hearted, it's a real workout on the whole body. The last section in particular is difficult, but well worth the views. One should be warned though of the level of difficulty.

We started our walk at 6am and made it in time for sunrise just after 7. Some bits are tough but it’s well worth it. Give it a go if you’re fit (our 12 year old did it without any complaints).

This hike was the highlight of our trip to Alice Springs. At the top, you have 360 degree views of the region. It took only 2 hours there and back. Wear hiking boots and bring water. The trail was pretty easy but the last stretch...More
