Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I completed the Larapinta end to end with Trek in 2015. It was an amazing trip that rekindled my love of hiking. Last January I heard that it had got even better. I decided to return to do a 9 Day. While the hiking has largely remained the same - awesome, the bush camps and food have gone to the next level. As usual the Guides - Mikel and Zoe were superb. They kept the group safe, well educated and extremely well fed. The HiAce van is also a great improvement on the old troop carriers. I'd also like to mention Jess in Treks admin team. She has fixed up my booking mistakes several times. I undertake an average of 9 hiking trips a year - generally group guided. Trek Tours is easily the best hiking company in Australia.

This was an amazing experience. The guides were fantastic. It was challenging but extremely rewarding. The sites we visited were incredible and accomplished walks I never thought I would be able to. A fantastic company that has set up a great trekking experience.

Put this on your bucket list and travel with this team.
The itinerary, the guides, the accommodation (eco tents), the food and the group we were lucky enough to travel with, were all top-notch ingredients for a memorable, life changing experience.

The 9-day trip is a great way to see this beautiful part of Australia.
Treklarapinta guides Em and Yve were a hard-working and cheerful team that made our time very enjoyable.
They did a terrific job showing us the sights and cooking up tasty meals at dinner time.
The campsites were mostly fine and it was great to enjoy a fire at the end of the day, along with a full moon and clear skies and glimpses of the Milky Way.

But there are few areas that could be improved.

I arrived in Alice on Tuesday for departure the next day. I was hoping to pick up a few beers and some wine for the trip.
But, as I learned upon arriving, all the bottle shops are closed on Mondays and Tuesday.
Treklarapinta needs to alert clients about this in the future so they can plan accordingly.

There are no tables at either camps for guests to use for eating/drinking, playing cards, writing notes etc.

The camps were too dark at night because of a lack of a few free-standing lights.

There are no showers and only a bowl of hot water to clean up, with just 1 private area for up to 9 guests.
They need to make more spaces available or add showers.

The second campsite has one cramped and sub-par tent that is not up to the standard of the larger ones elsewhere on the site.
This should be changed so all the tents are of similar quality and space.

Dinners were good, with mains including barramundi, kangaroo, goat and camp-oven lasagna with salads and breads.
But lunches became very monotonous with DIY wraps on the trail each day. More variety would have been appreciated.
Breakfasts were okay but it would have been nice to have a cooked brekkie on more than just 1 day.

Thank you for your detailed review. It is disappointing to read that your expectations were not matched on some fronts, and we're always looking for ways to improve, so we appreciate your feedback. Due to local restrictions, we contact all guests the week prior to departure with opening hours for alcohol retailers in Alice Springs. Perhaps this information merits another reminder, as we understand that a beverage is a well-deserved treat after a day of trekking and we don't want it to be missed. Although we are trekking in a remote and arid enviroment, we also understand that everyone needs the opportunity to be comfortable while still enjoying a genuine bush experience. We can assure you that all your feedback is taken on board and will help to improve our guest experience and service with Trek Larapinta. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts.

A magical experience hiking the trail. Beautiful countryside. Our guides were wonderful and very attentive. Great facilities for bush camping. The food was delicious. The hikes were difficult but it made it all the more rewarding and special. Mount Sonder in particular had the most spectacular views.

The 9 day TrekLarapinta tour was a great experience. Our guides Sharna and Tash were excellent and went out of their way to make the experience enjoyable for everyone. Great food, variety of hikes and well organised. We would highly recommend to anyone who can cope with 15klms daily hikes.

I just completed the Super 6 with Trek Larinpinta! It was an incredible experience. The guides Adam and Mishka were excellent, full of genuine passion for this amazing part of Australia. They were fun, friendly and paced these challenging walks perfectly. You got an authentic experience sleeping in a swag under the stars, but had excellent meals prepared for you every day. I wouldn't do this wonderful part of the world any differently. It was an epic adventure with great food, laughs and great new people to experience it with!

Well done completing the Super 6 Day trek! You've now walked some of the most difficult (and most beautiful) sections of the trail, it's an impressive achievement. Thank you for your wonderful review, and we're glad you chose to share this once in a life-time experience with Trek Larapinta.
