Didn't realise how close it was to were we were staying. Visited while exploring Wagga before going to event to fill in time.

Ok spot to stay for a picnic, but this particular day was wet and cold so wasnt there long, only to have a look at the area.

Alright spot if have kids with play area to keep them busy.

The previous reviewer who compared this beach to Bondi is delusional, there can be no comparison as Bondi is on the coast and this one is inland. The playground here is HUGE, and then there’s a smaller one a little bit away for smaller kids,.
There’s disability (wheelchair) access right down to the sand… bbq areas are huge and clean, toilets are clean too

The most amusing thing about this riverside bit of sand is the sign that says: ‘#9 Top 20 Australian beaches in 2020… As endorsed by Tourism Australia’ beach expert’. Seriously? It must be a joke, surely! Or maybe Tourism Australia’s beach expert didn’t really get around in his / her examination of Australia’s beaches. I can name many fine, clean and beautiful beaches in Australia, and Wagga Wagga’s accolade-winning beach is certainly not amongst them!

That said, it a small clean stretch of sand on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River which flows through the town of Wagga Wagga. It provides a sandy spot for people to sunbathe, and to enter the river for a swim. But on the two very warm afternoons I visited this river spot in February, the beach was empty; there was not a soul to be found enjoying its pleasures.

I was informed that the beach gets washed away when the river floods, and clean sand has to be brought in to replenish the beach.

It’s small; it’s clean; it’s pretty. But it is not a beach of significance and substance. There are changing and toilet facilities nearby, and some pop up food stands, lots of shade trees, and grassy banks, seats and picnic tables for your enjoyment. There’s also a children’s playground nearby, which was attracting more patrons than the beach. The walking trail by the beach was closed for refurbishment, due to recent flooding.

It's not Bondi Beach by any means.

Not sure if this is where we stayed in a Caravan Park a few years ago? Great little stop-off on our cycling day out.

We wished that we had packed swimmers with us as it looked so inviting on a hot day. We did, however, have a walk along on the sandy bottom. Not sure about the validity of the sign stating that it is amongst Australia's top 10 beaches. Would be interesting to see the criteria for that 😉 Lovely spot all the same.

Having had lunch we didn’t need anything further but there was a coffee van and a donut truck selling Vegan donuts (had to let our friend know and she returned the next day for one 😉)

The Air Temp was 7 C., the grass wet, the 'Sand' muddy. There is good car parking, grassed picnic areas, and a fantastic new, Children's play compound that could accommodate over a hundred children. Opened this June 2022.

As the sun was rising I walked along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River and came across Wagga Beach. I can imagine it is a popular spot in summer.

This is a really well set up area with modern picnic facilities and a large grassed area with a lovely sandy river beach.

There were a few people swimming when we were here.

A sign proclaims that it is amongst Australia's top 10 beaches. I think that may be overstepping the mark, but it is a lovely spot and would be great on a hot day.

Voted number 9 in best beaches in Australia. This inland beach is situated on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, hundreds of kilometres from the coast. It is a perfect picnic spot with plenty of areas to put a blanket down to set up. Ample seats and BBQ areas. Be careful as the current can be strong and the water is cold so great for those hot summer days and nights.
