The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.

Petrol-head's dream!
Feb. 2017 • Couples
We stumbled upon this place while visiting Harbourside Shopping Centre.

The staff member serving us (Tom, I think) was very friendly and a great person to chat with. He explained each aspect of the experience we were signing up for as well as taking us through the controls, setting options, etc.

The simulator experience is great fun, but takes a little getting used to at first if you choose to play it on full realism setting. One can adjust the level of difficulty, so it can be fun for everybody.

This is a must try for anyone who is fond of cars or racing. You will not want to leave! Pricing is a little steep, but well worth the experience. I would recommend choosing the 1 hour package.

Awesome fun. A massive range of cars to choose from as well as different tracks from around the world. Totally addictive. Just be careful if you suffer from motion sickness.

Took 8 members of my team for 1hrs worth of racing ... looking for something fun to do and something competitive that we could all do together. Race Centre was fantastic, everyone had a lot of fun and were still talking about it several hours later. I would highly recommend this experience.

Good fun if you can afford the price

We did this as a family of 5 and found that it is not for everyone. The two ladies in our group decided they had had enough about half way through with one of them complaining the simulator was making her nauseous. We booked for an hour but ended up with closer to an hour and a half. We had good fun without being too serious as the simulators take some practice and there is certainly a learning curve involved. We did find that we were ready to take a break by the time it was over but loved the experience. Not a cheap activity with a family though.

Great simulators, poor staff

This would have been my 3rd trip to this centre in the past 3 years, spoiled today by very slack employee. The desk jockey arrived 10 minutes late, and was making no effort to open up, so when I asked, he said probably 11 today. When I pointed out opening hours were from 10, it was a whiny 'oh mate, it's wet and I've got paperwork to do'. No apologies, no effort, no service.
Now I can bet he doesn't own this business, but what he's done is turn away a paying customer, who's then going to tell lots of people about the bad experience.
And you know what...this also happened last year when I visited.
The simulators are great, but I won't be spending my hard earned cash on them again with staff like this.

Don't bother, advertised a 15 minute run but won't sell it to you.
May 2014
This has to be the worst run business I have ever seen.
We planned a trip especially to darling harbour to trial the race simulator, we found a flyer on the bottom floor explaining the prices and times, $80 1 hour, $50 for half an hour and $30 for 15 minutes upon inspection of the premises we decided to do a 15 minute run to trial the simulator to see if we would like it.
The sales person then explained we needed at least an hour for the full experience, we told him we were interested I 15 minutes he then said half an hour is the best he could do. We showed him his own flyer with a 15minute run on it and he said 15 minutes is not enough to get to know the track and not worth it.
We again explained we wanted 15 minutes to trial the simulator only and he refused to sell us 15 minutes saying half an hour is the minimum, we left the premises with a bad experience.

Do not bother with these guys the simulation does not look any better than a game for a ps3 and for the company to not take money for a service is ridiculous and I highly doubt they will be in business long. Complete waste of time.

Brilliant Racing Simulator Experience - Second to None
Apr. 2014 • Family
Stumbled across this attraction at the Darling Harbour Shopping Centre. Stumbled is probably the wrong word as on the lower level there is an encased replica of an F1 car with detailed brochures! My son was very keen to get up to level two and give it try. Geoff (?) the shop manager was very helpful and informative and made us feel welcome. I was initially only going to give my son 15 minutes for $30 but was told that half-an-hour ($50) is probably best as it takes a while to get used to the handling and controls.
Every track (Le Mans, Silverstone, Bathurst etc.) and car (Super Cars, F1, V8s etc) of any stature is available to select and the whole design of these simulators is to give you the real-life thrill of racing high performance cars.
There are three screens with one in the centre and the others on either side. If you go off the track, take the wrong line or take corners too fast you really feel the bumps.
As the centre wasn't particularly busy my son was given virtually an hour on the simulator and was involved in practice rounds, qualifying and races. He was getting the hang of it at the end but also realised how fit you have to be to be a racing car driver as he was quite exhausted afterwards and his hands ached. He was exhilarated by the whole set-up and enjoyed it immensely.
Anybody with an interest in racing a car should give this a go.....probably for ages 12+.
Highly Recommended.
