The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

Victoria’s Basement at Castle Hill Sydney Australia
Apr. 2021 • Solo

Shopping at the Victoria’s Basement Castle Hill Sydney Australia has been a very nice experience. The various sections of homeware are displayed across a spacious area. One can find some useful homeward and some decent bargains. Some of the Australian themed ceramics like Dan Samuels are good collectibles and gifts to overseas visitors. The dinnerware and crystal glassware is of good quality and often user friendly with dishwasher and microwave utility. The Churchill and Noritake dinnerware collection is elegant. The Benzer collection is solid ceramics for daily use that is dishwasher and oven safe. The Nachtman crystal collection is excellent. The in store staff are very friendly and efficient. Online shopping and delivery is very convenient. I enjoy shopping at Victoria’s Basement at Castle Hill and at the QVB.

Good for discounted cookware
Jan. 2020 • Couples
Thought the prices and merchandise was great. Enjoyed seeing some of the higher end dishes and cookware at a discounted price.

Rude
Dec. 2019 • Solo
Agree with previous reviewer. I would give zero stars if possible. The rudest, most offhand service ever experienced. It’s not fair to say it’s Christmas and we’re busy. All these customers are spending money, therefore paying your wages. Be nice to them. I will only go to Peters of Kensington in future. This place is off my list.

I used to love this shop but recently the customer service is driving loyal customer like myself to Peters of Kensington.
Special call out to staff member Ben In Artarmon store, the most obnoxious and rude staff ever. Not helpful, giving reason of “being this time of the year“ as excuses to deliberately ignoring service requests.
Will not go back again.

Lots of stuff
Oct. 2019
We have been to this Victoria's Basement a couple of times. It is in an interesting location and gets a lot of passing trade. It is full of things you would need in your kitchen, bathroom and generally around the house, but there sure is a lot of crockery and plates, pots and pans and the like. Initially we thought this was great, pricewise, as they display very high "recommended" prices crossed out for "lower" prices. However when you really think about it, even their "lower" prices are still too high, on most items. We have found many similar items in other stores for less. But then every prospective buyer will do whatever they wish best for them, anyway.

Very expensive
Jan. 2019
This shop has unbelievably expensive prices. I went to this shop with my friend and we saw 1 wine glass( which was plastic) was $200!!! It is so cramped in here. There are things in the walk way, it smells disgusting, there are all these random cardboard boxes everywhere and the carpet is extremely dirty. This place desperately needs to be cleaned up and prices need to be taken down.

A haven for the baker and cook
Jul. 2018 • Solo
This gem of a find is tucked in the basement of the iconic QVB. It is going into an Aladdin’s cave of baking and cooking paraphernalia at bargain prices. There are gadgets galore for the serious and the occasional kitchen people. Lovely to browse and hard to resist the temptation to buy.

The place to get kitchenwares and gifts in Sydney
Mar. 2018 • Solo
Nearly everyone in Sydney knows Victoria’s Basement even if they’ve never been there. And once you go there, you can see why it’s popular. Great kitchenware and homewares and gifts at great prices and heavily discounted, this shop is chock a block full of items. It’s conveniently located near Town Hall train station in the basement of the QVB and is well worth a visit when in Sydney.

And I am now the proud owner of Australian birds' crockery as a result of my visit here. The prices were bargain basement and the service was cheerful and positive. What was not to like?
