Neighbourhood: Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.

Brilliant small zoo of just Australian wildlife: koalas, platypus, kangaroos, crocs, wombats, tassie devils, cassowary, lots of birds, lots of insects, lots of reptiles, all up close. Loved it! Contrary to a couple of the reviews here, although the zoo is small, I saw no indication of classic stressed animal behaviour, and the animals seemed well-accustomed to people.

Andrea was great, very informative, and knowledgeable in all aspects of the residents in Wildlife. She was so willing to share her knowledge and love of the animals. Highly recommend this location to see the animals and creatures native to Australia.

She's the best! She guides kids through the kangaroo exhibit. You have to see her to believe it. I've never seen a bird with such a sweet personality

I went alone and easily spend 4 hours there. If it hadn’t been closing time I could have stayed even longer. It’s a small park but they have a variety of native Australian animals, which is what I came for. Make sure you don’t rush through it! Take your time to look for / at animals and make sure you attend the keeper talks. The staff is very knowledgeable and they explain and sometimes feed a group of animals every half an hour so you can learn something and see them better. I would definitely go back to see it all again. It’s an indoor park so it should be suitable for rainy weather too.

Sydney Wildlife zoo
@sydneywildlifezoo
Very interesting venue in the middle of the city.
If you enjoy wildlife exhibits this is for you!
I enjoyed seeing the sleepy wombat and getting close (albeit behind glass) to a pretty big croc. That being said it is more of an experience for city people or those who don't get to see our awesome wildlife in the ... wild. 🐾🌳
That being said if you want to give the little ones an experience without any danger its a great day out for the family.
All sorts of exhibits nocturnal🦇 , reptiles🐍🦎 and a few Roos🦘 etc , it was a warm day so most were taking shelter and napping. Pretty cool amount of koalas there too .🐨
Decent place to spend some time (an hour or so) pricing wasn't bad either, would recommend buying as a package and doing the aquarium and madame tussauds too!
Didn't use the amenities , sorry didn't have to go 🤷♂️
5 out of 5 for a family 👨👩👧👧
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed it too but once is enough.

The wildlife park in Sydney has done a great job with ecological landscaping. We had a great time, the three of us. It would be great if the self-service photo machine had a feature to cancel and retake photos. The first two photos turned out poorly because we didn't adjust to the machine's angle. In China, we have the option to retake the photos twice. I hope you can improve this aspect. Everything else was great, especially the koala keeper who shared a lot of koala knowledge with me. I learned a lot.

Such a terrible attraction. The exhibits were very limited and the place was almost empty inside. We visited Currumbin a few weeks ago and we’re amazed by the open area and the joy of all the animals. Here, the animals are confined to tiny little spaces, with barely any real nature, and close to the smog of the city, and the animals look very sad and unhappy. It really should be relocated to an open air space!

Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to review us. It is disappointing to hear that you thought our WILDLIFE Sydney was not big enough.
Due to our position in the city we do not have the space to expand our zoo much more. I hope you were able to enjoy all the zones we have inside the attraction including the Kangaroo walk-a-bout!

A really fun little Zoo thats MUCH bigger than you expect - probably worth getting as an extra alongside the Aquarium rather than JUSt a ticket on it's own but loads of local wildlife in good enclosures and well displayed!

You can cuddle a kangaroo but not koalas
Do I have to pay to get near the Koala?
Hello NorthStar96172,
Yes, there is an extra cost to have a Koala Encounter. Please see Wildlife Sydney Zoo website for further information.

What food is served for the hot breakfast please? Some of my family are gluten intolerant, will it cater for this?
Many thanks

I have no experience of that particular topic I'm afraid. However, these days I would be surprised if your gluten intolerant family members couldn't find somewhere nearby if the Zoo didn't cater for them. Sydney, and particularly Darling Harbour, is packed with places to eat of course and the natives are extremely friendly I found so could point you in the right direction if necessary.

Yes, but Taronga zoo or symbio are probably better for this.

There is a small kangaroo enclosure at this zoo. There is a rope separating people from the kangaroo but you can get close enough for a photo but you would not be able to touch one.

Hello! Are there any quokka in your zoo?
Do people have the possibility of petting them? And if they can, is there a precise time for it?
Thanks for your attention

You need to go to “Rottnest Island”near Perth Western Australia to get up close with the very friendly Quokka
