We walked along This Beach as part of our overall Manly Scenic Walk earlier today. South Steyne Beach is close to North Head and Shelly Beach and has a well maintained promenade. It is close to several cafes and restaurants. Quite a few people on the beach and the promenade for a weekday.

At the northern end of Manly Beach, this is a nice part of the overall beach area. A little less crowded than the main middle area it is great for a swim or to just lounge around and enjoy the sand and the sun.

Safe surf beach patrolled by lifesavers all year. Short walk to Shelly Beach, North Head and Manly's main shopping and eating location

Glorious spring day here in South Steyne beach. We biked the length of the beach and even had a quick swim! If you are catching the ferry over from the city don't be too worried if the wind is up when you get off the ferry. By the time you walk down the Corso to south Steyne it is sheltered... More

South Steyne beach is one of my favourite beaches in Sydney. Its forms as apart of of Manly Beach. The northern end is called Queenscliff Beach which has a lagoon estuary that empties into the ocean. The locals love it especially our Prime Minister as he belongs to the Queenscliff Surf Club. There is an ocean pool and a tunnel,... More

We are from the country!!.... So whenever we are in Sydney we catch the Ferry and go to Manly, we then go for our long walk along the walking track..... Taking in the glorious views of the beach and surroundings. Back to the beachfront to enjoy our Fish & Chips from the many shops on the Corso... After our lunch... More

Sydneys northern beaches are greatly superior to other beaches in Sydneys east and south. For example.Bondi beach is just a concrete nightmare,Saying that,Manly is only a 40 minute ferry ride from the Sydney cbd and this gives great views of Port Jackson,Sydneys harbour. After leaving the ferry, stroll down The Corso in an easterly direction and you come to South Steyne beach fronting... There are so many good beaches in this city it is hard to pick the best, particularly on the north shore. So if you find yourself looking at a crowded beach at Manly take the short trip and come here.

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
