Painting and sculptures and interesting momentos of an inspired life. Although there is obviously a finite quantity of his work available, its not a static display and they do change things around and add newly provided pieces. A great space. Footage and interviews playing, and Welcoming staff who seem passionate about what they do.

It was so good to see not only a fantastic collection of Bretts work, but to really get an insight into the feel of his studio. esp enjoyed sitting on the couch reading thru the books and checking out all his sketches. so much information and interesting items to look at, like all the different size brushes, could have spent... Seeing Brett Whiteley's studio was an amazing experience for a group of Art students from Canberra. We were guided by Yaeli Ohana who gave our students an unforgettable presentation, including showing Brett Whiteley's art book collection which made it easier to connect with and see some of the inspiration of the works. A must see if you are interested in... More

Whiteley's art may not be for everyone - it's very eccentric - but nonetheless it was great to get an insight into this artist's life. It felt very personal to be where the man lived and made many of his artworks.

A must for anyone with the slightest interest in art and Brett Whiteley specifically. Have a few of his works and even after all these years, still find them absolutely fascinating - they never age or lose interest. Although the book launch didn't give all the answers, the studio is still a fascinating insight into a genius's mind.

What a lovely homage to the artist . In a quite small street in Surry Hills. About a $15 taxi ride from the harbour and well worth it. You can sit and take his work in . Plus his personal space. Loved it and the staff are just lovely . The surrounding streets are just charming with lots of great... More

This gallery is a must see. The permanent work on display is incredible: so brilliant, so detailed and witty. Exhibitions change regularly throughout the year and the gallery staff are really knowledgable and keen to discuss Whiteley's work, life and of course the exhibits. If you love his work, you shouldn't miss this gallery. Added to its appeal: it's free... More

We visited a few years back and I'm still impressed with the studio/gallery noting admission is free. It's hidden away at the back of Surry Hills but it's a great place to spend an hour or two.

Small but interesting museum with a window on 70s life as well. Staff friendly. can be seen in 1-2 hours. In a nice part of Sydney for cafes and trendy shops for afterwards too.
