When international director and closet ghoul Alfred Hitchcock visited...

When international director and closet ghoul Alfred Hitchcock visited Sydney in the sixties this was his infamous point of reference. Locals know, and tourists do not, that this is the last stop for the desperate few, it also a beautiful location for a spectacular scenic cliff top walk that begins at The Gap Park.

Combined with the ferry and seafood lunch at Doyles. This is a must do outing, The walks throughout the park are easy and mostly paved. From the gap itself has amazing views. In recent times they had to fence the view point as it was infamous, for jumpers.

If it were possible to shoot an arrow through "The Gap" from Fairlight it would end up at the South Pole, which is why the seascapes are so vast and the glory of nature so evident at this location.

Once a lonely quiet place to spend some contemplative time looking, smelling, seeing the sea at it's best and worst. Now it is full of Japanese and German tourists. They must wonder why it is an attraction unless they are being told it is a place lots of people commit suicide. That would be sad. Hopefully people are seeing the natural... More

Definitely my favorite place in the city. This is such a lovely place to sit and listen to the waves. The view is absolutely stunning. Must see when you're in Sydney!

Weekends are extremely busy. You can catch a ferry from circular quay, catch a bus or drive but parking can be hard to find. Lovely quiet bay on one side and high view point of the GAP towards the ocean on the other side. There is a lovely protected park on the quiet bay side to sit and enjoy the... More

As per my title, it is a pity that we can only view it from afar, but it is okay. Because the waves are very strong, and seeing it from afar gives you also a nice bird's eye view of the vastness of the sea, and the beauty of the geographical features. HIGHLY recommended to come here. Take a ferry... More

wear a good pair of walking shoes. Tiring walk for me but the views are so worth the trip. Make sure you go on a good day as walking trails may be slippery on a rainy day.

It's just super beautiful. And the walk there isn't hard. It's a good place to hang out with friends, kids, teenagers. I saw elders as well. Parking space is a bit limited.

After lunch at Doyals in Watsons Bay, a great way to walk off those calories is to take the seanic walk from Watsons Bay along The Gap Park. The view of the Pacific Ocean is sensational and so picturesque. Perfect as a backdrop for photos on a typical sunny day in Sydney. Hard to beat.
