Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you get the opportunity, really do see the STC current production of Macbeth. Hugo Weaving is fantastic as Macbeth and so are some of the other STC actors, especially Kate Box as Macduff. I didn't really enjoy Melita Jurisic's Lady Macbeth but my theatre partner did, so perhaps that was just me.
At two hours and in these competent hands, Macbeth is very accessible and enjoyable Shakespeare.
The staging - a very simple set with a long table around which everything takes place - and lighting is interesting and I love what plays out in the reverse-seating arrangements.
However the temporary seating set up for this production is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. If I weren't so enthralled in the show, I would actually have been very annoyed by the idea that anyone thinks this is acceptable theatre seating (for the record: it is not!)

My teenage daughter and I attended the recent production of The Popular Mechanicals and had an excellent time. The cast were great and the play was most amusing. We will not be able to forget those rubber chickens!

I was robbed this play is sooo bad I am ashamed of STC. Acting is so predictable that’s how black folks talk, walk and act. Come on it is 2023 stop this representation of stereotypes, surely we can do better.

Sydney theatre company is good at producing plays but appalling at running administrative services. You only have to take your season-ticket bookings once a year and still your website melts down and customers are left stranded with no communications, waiting in a queue that continues to pause. Appalling customer experience. I’ve now been waiting for an hour and a half and website paused again.

We booked tickets to see Maids and was excited that Cate Blanchett was starring in it.
but what a disappointment. It was absolutely terrible and a ranting mess of a show. A few people walked out early and we wished we had too. It dragged on and on and had very little in it that I could speak positive about it.i guess occasionally you pick lemons of shows and this was one of them.

Fabulous performance, innovative script, amazing cast. If you get a chance to see this production I strongly suggest you go.
There is a matinee on Wednesdays - and the matinee I went to had a Q&A session with the director and cast which added extra insight into the process to bring the show together.
Booking online and picking up tickets at the box office was straightforward.
Ditch the link to google maps from trip advisor as it is misleading... If you are on foot from Circular Quay walk along the waters edge, go under the harbour bridge, turn left when you get to a T intersection. You will walk past pier one on your right, an art installation in the roundabout (wrecked red car with a boulder on it) and you are almost at pier 4. Allow 20 minutes for the walk to make sure you get there on time
Keep an eye on the STC website to see what other shows are coming up.

We subscribed to STC as we wanted to get to see more live theatre in Sydney. It is a great way to do it and you have your years enterainment sorted in a moment. The staff are very friendly and very helpful if you need to change dates due to unforseen circumstances.
The Bar at the End of the Wharf is also great value and lots of fun.

$20 tickets are made available every Tuesday for the following week (which I got because I wanted to see a play which was sold out and tickets otherwise unavailable). Got a good seat (and the play was great too).
It is a really nice venue.
Also - the bar at the end of wharf 4 is a great place (whether going to the theatre or not) to see the sunset.

What is the age range for the shows? What age range would you say that usually go to the shows of STC?

Has anyone been here for their NYE Party? Can we get some feedback? We are a couple in our 60s looking for a venue to see the fireworks from. Food is not that important as we are vegetarian.
Thanks

Good question which I'm afraid I can't answer. However, you would likely get a better view from the "Theatre Bar At The End Of The Wharf". This is also a bar and restaurant, with a better view!
