This is a strange place, by Sydney beach standards. The locals love it, but I call it the concrete beach, as it is surrounded, you guessed it, by concrete on both long sides. I do not know what the lifeguards do there, as it is...More

We passed through here on our Bondi to Cogee Walk. As with every beach on the route, it was very busy and clearly people were enjoying themselves!

One pretty cool thing I see over and over in Sydney is the public beaches that is made to look like swimming pools. Ocean pools they’re called, they are plenty of this across Sydney. This in Clovelly is one of the biggest I’ve seen, rock...More

Pretty little narrow cove with surprisingly deep beach and concrete sunbathing decks either side. Quiet in comparison to some of the bigger beaches in the area and good for families. Cafe facilities on the right hand clifftop.

Great for beginners, go at at low tide if you're a bit nervous (as I was) to start with but high tide is where the magic is and the water is heaps clearer. I'd often go when tide was coming in to feel even safer...More

Clovelly beach is more of a bay than a beach, due to the two headlands that are by its sides. Currents that come into the bay are slowed down by the headlands and the beach, itself is quite retreated landwards so the waves are gentler....More

Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the
smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi
Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs
that does not have big waves, making it an excellent
family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right
across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens
in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night
of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity

Yes there is! It's slightly above and beside the beach/rock pool on the northern side, a great location for a party of friends.
