Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
Friday's whale-watching trip with Ocean Extreme was the BEST and most exciting whale watching excursion I have ever done. We must have seen >50 whale breaches. Being at water-level in the zodiac boat made it more spectacular We were able to manouvre very quickly to where the whales were. As soon as I finished i thought about other family and friends that I can buy this trip for as a present. Can't wait to go again ! The guide was excellent.

Brilliant! Magnificent! Awesome! Words is not enough to describe the experience of whale watching with Ocean Extreme. We saw several humpback whale cubs and adult whales. They did everything whales do on Discovery Channel or National Geographic shows: jumping out of the water, beating their tails, water spraying, even singing. Boat is fast and comfortable, crew is very friendly and professional, group is small so there’s no need to jostle to get perfect views. Trip took about two hours, that was enough. Can absolutely recommend Ocean Extreme for whale watching in Sydney👍

Amazing experience! Shaun & the Captain gave us some unforgettable moments. Friendly atmosphere & highly professional with some very knowledgeable facts about Humpback whales.
We felt safe at all times!!
Honestly a memory our group won’t forget!! You won’t believe the size of them until you see them up close, which this experience offers!!
Everything before the experience was explained fantastically I.e locations, what to bring etc
The four of us would highly recommend!
Thank you once again to Shaun and the team!

Very memorable and exciting adventure with lots of beautiful whale sightings. The staff was very attentive to us and every passenger was taken care of while watching. All in all it was a great trip! By the way, remember to take seasickness pills in advance if you get seasick!

Fantastic experience, we saw a mother and calf humpback at close quarters and the calf even treated us to a breach. Many thanks to Martin and Shaun who work hard to find these wonderful creatures. Mike and Julie Swansea, Wales.

The ride was exhilarating! We searched the sea for telltale blows! There they were 3 then another 3! Double-breach, breaches, pec waves, fluking, blows and the MUGGINGS! Thrilling! The sound of the Humpback blowing! Only 6feet away & as we were on Extreme II even closer! We saw pods of Dolphins, riding our wake, jumping! Also, some Minkie Whales....I'm planning ANOTHER trip it was so BRILLIANT, Impressive & Amazing!

Blake was an terrific tour guide! In spite of his efforts, we hadn’t found any whales for the first 1.5 hours. Though our group enjoyed the amazing harbor views and watching the dolphins play in the wake, he was clearly disappointed when we had to head back without seeing any whales. He was professional and courteous and had just begun to explain the guaranteed whale sighting rebooking procedures when whales were spotted straight ahead. We sped off and were rewarded with a magical experience of multiple breaches (including a double breach!), lots of surface activity, and curious whales that swam past our boat! Thank you, Blake!!!

No. If you don't see any whales you receive a credit to come out again for free during the same whale watching season. Unless you come in November, which is the last month of the season, in which case your credit would be valid for the following season as well.
You would have to contact Ocean Extreme yourself for available bookings. What I can tell you is that we had a fabulous time with them and would highly reccomend. Whale season in Australia is from May to late October with the best months June/July. Hope this is helpful.
Hi, if our trip does get cancelled due to bad weather, do we rebook only for the next day itself, or can it be any other day? Are there any extra charges? Thank you!
Hi,
If your trip is cancelled for any reason you are issued with a credit that can be used any day at your convenience. Subject to availability. If you are unable to come any other day then we will assist you with a refund via your booking agent. Passengers who book directly through our site are refunded directly onto their credit card.
Hi,
Yes there is a life jacket for every passenger located under each seat. They are not required to be worn for the journey. We do a safety demonstration before we depart.
No one has ever fallen out of the boat.
Hi,
Unfortunately it doesn't start for a couple more weeks. Usually around the 15th. In the meantime we are doing our joyrides to Bondi Beach if that interests you.
Cheers,
Blake
Hi. We’ll be visiting Sydney from 20th to 26 December. What are the chances of still spotting whales this late in December? Also is this trip suitable for a 10 and 14 year old?
Hi,
Unfortunately the whale watching season is over for this year. It typically runs until mid/late November.
Outside of the whale watching months we operate our Offshore Joyride to Bondi Beach. This has a minimum age of 12 years old. It usually departs at 12pm daily.
Kind regards,
Blake
Im not asking a question, i want to answer a few that i had before coming.
If its not windy or rainy, you wont get wet. If it is windy you might get wet. but if its a still day like it was for us then there wont be an issue.
There is a place for your bags to go that wont get wet , so you can put your bag and/or your phone away safely.
Keeping your phone in your pocket on a nice day is OK, you can also use it to take photos or video as long as you hold on tight.
We went on a nice sunny day at about 24-25 degrees. They supply a rain jacket to help keep you warm, but even with a nice day, a pair of jeans would help to keep u warm.
If any colder you would definitely need more, a jacket or jumper underneath or more depending how cold.
