Neighbourhood: Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Seafood was fresh and the fried stuff were not as greasy as I expected. Most of the items on the menu also went really well with Aussie craft beer.

We stopped here after a long day in the blue mountains with a cruise back. This is the first place you see when you get off the ferry. My husband got the kangaroo filet and I got the lamb special both ordered med rare. His was done the right way mine was not it was over done after waiting 15 mins to get someone attention with no response I ate it cause I was starving. It tasted ok but would have been much better done right. Our waitress was not attentive at all. She never ask how anything was and we had to find others to bring more drinks.

I've been going to Searock for a number of years now on my way to performances at the Opera House. I used to enjoy being there - good food, good prices and a fantastic view. But lately - not the same. Good food still (if you can get it - I'll come to that later), the glass of wine with the lunch menu has disappeared and the service is disinterested and rushed. But back to the food. Yesterday, we were there at about 11.30 am for lunch, before a 1.00pm performance at the Opera House. But sorry, the $17 lunch menu is limited at that hour to sandwiches, salads and burgers. Huh? It's early lunch time for lots of people, but the lunch menu is limited. The staff couldn't tell me when service of the full lunch menu would begin. One said we would have to wait 30 - 45 minutes for lunch, but wasn't clear on whether that was the time from ordering at 11.30 am or the time from when the lunch menu 'opened'. What to do? It was too late to head elsewhere, so we ordered from the limited selection. The burger was good, the tuna sandwich was also good, although the boiled egg slices on top looked like they had been refrigerated for a little too long and the prawn salad was good. Why would a restaurant in this prime location on a beautiful Saturday midday, when there were lots of people about, operate a limited kitchen service at that hour? We will look elsewhere next time.

Opted for the $26 prefix. Check out the choices for meals and drinks. My wife ordered fish and chips with champagne. So worth it

So distinctly average - a great view, run by overworked South Americans. Was dinning alone on business - left for 20 mins for order taking (despite trying to get attention).

Finally food came after 48 mins. Wrong steam (T bone not rib eye). No S&P on table - huff and a puff from waiter and it arrived. Glass of wine 10 mins later (ordered an hour before).

Sticky tables - cheap cutlery - no drive or passion - typical tourist place that I usually avoid but thought it might be ok this one time.

Doesn't meet Australian standards or that of Fierry Oranges.

If you want to get served grab a table near the main pass - they stand there en-mass like it is a security blanket.

Awful truly awful !!!!

Pity as I am taking Credit Suisse out for lunch on Monday - I wouldn't have come here but I will describe my unfortunate dinner to my guests !!

Shame.

Let's get this out the way first
If you like to eat cheap don't come to Sydney.
That's Done !
There are no shortage of eateries in Sydney, it's just which one too choose.
We chose Searock Bar and could not have been more pleased. The food was good the staff were very attentive with a special mention to Jade our server. Lovely girl and an excellent customer manner.
I had the Thai red curry with chicken and sticky jasmine rice. Full of flavour and hit the spot. Washed down with a nice red wine. My wife had beef skewers with a side of fries.
The beef was again full of flavour.
Excellent job guys
And surprise we think quite reasonably priced. All round good value

You pay for the location here - not the food or service. You order food at the bar, which is usually ok, but not when the person taking your order acts as if she wishes she was anywhere else - totally distracted and disinterested. She asked us several times to repeat what we wished to order due to her inattention. I asked her to split the bill 50-50 and handed her my credit card. When my friend handed her his card to pay the other 50%, she said she had put it all on my card. I guess she couldn't be bothered splitting the bill, or telling us she wouldn't split the bill. The nachos ($17) were terrible, the Caesar salad ($19.50) was a far cry from a Caesar salad, and the fish and chips ($24) dish was two puny pieces of over-battered fish. We ordered the only rose' wine on the list but of course they were out of it. The Totara Marlborough New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was fine ($42) if overpriced. When the salt shaker didn't produce any salt and I asked one of the servers for another one, you would have thought I had asked her to swim across Sydney Harbour by the look on her face. Never again.

I am writing this as I sit at the table at Searock feeling ripped off. We ordered two sharing plates: salt and pepper squid and "Johnny's fish cakes". The fish cakes were really only fried potato patties with some small shreds of smoked salmon on top. The squid was under cooked, so that it still had that slimy texture if raw calamari.
The table wait staff were friendly, but the two girls behind the bar are surly and unfriendly.
Definitely a tourist ripoff spot, since the prices do not in any way reflect the quality.

Our meals were very good for lunch. Friendly and efficient staff. Reasonably priced. Nice view around the harbour when sitting outside.

Decided to visit the Vivid festival on a frosty cold night with three little kids. We needed a fuss free dinner and we found it at Searock. The service was fantastic and the food was quick and tasty. There was a small mix up with our order however it was resolved quickly and efficiently by the staff. Was so impressed that they welcomed and accommodated the children. The only criticism was the pricing. I guess it was ok given the location. Definitely our next 'special occasion' spot!
