Any Sydney cinema-goer will know about the Orpheum, so this review is for visitors. The cinema is a very-well-restored Art Deco complex comprising 6 theatres of varying sizes. Seats in all are comfortable, but not luxurious. A limited range of quite costly snacks and plenty of drinks are available. Stairs to the upper or the lower level are a bit... More

What can you say about this place, great classic design, good alcoholic drink options, wurlitzer in main cinema, all the newest films as well as classics and cult films. This is what a cinema should be...the fact that it is constantly busy is a testament to how great this place is.

There are many good reason why this theatre has thrived and continues to grow in popularity, when other movie houses have not fared as well. The six theatres are of varying size, permitting the screening of the most popular as well as less-broadly-popular foreign offerings, all of which are presented in a brilliantly recreated "nostalgic environment". Every detail from the... More

Been there many times. Always nice to go to an old style movie theatre. This one is in excellent condition. Seats are comfortable and the sound and screen are excellent.

The movies are great but the experience is not! One cannot book reserved seating so if one is not young or physically disabled it is a very disturbing experience! One has to queue on the stairs, often for long periods of time and even though there is a lift when we came out last night there was no one to... More

What better way to view this Australian Movie than in the historic Australian Movie Theatre. An amazing experience and would definitely return.

I've been here a few times over the past ten years it shows a mixture of current films and retrospectives, each cinema has beautiful Art Deco sculptures and has a dramatic vintage atmosphere.

We were treated to go and watch Star Wars here and what a great treat it was. The theatre is full of old world charm, the art deco is superb and the seating and setting takes you back in time. A bonus for our visit was the wurlitzer in true traditional style rose from below the stage complete with player,... More
