Top ways to experience Madame Tussauds Sydney and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.

    Worth a Visit
Having been to another wax museum in Brisbane where all the displays were behind glass we weren't going to go to Madam Tussauds in Sydney. We made a last minute decision and went. We were not let down! The displays are mostly somewhat interactive. You can pop clothes on and pose with the wax stars. Rushing through it we wished we had taking more time for this. It's also awesome that your photo is taken at the entrance and digital photos are included in the ticket price. You can also have photos printed at a cost.
Hi Chrystal000, Thank you so much for your WAX-TASTIC review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed all of the interactive sets and taking photos with our celebs! We hope to see you walking down the red carpet again soon! - Cheers, MT Sydney Team

Don’t miss this- so worth a visit
Fantastic afternoon meeting all sorts of famous people-stayed overnight in Darling Harbour on way to cruise holiday. Well worth a visit and met, Einstein, the Queen and royal family member, Henry Lawson, Eric Bana, Steve Irwin, Brad Pitt, Leonardo, Johnnie Dep, and sporting celebrities.. don’t miss out. One staff member was very welcoming and showed us the process ie B. Franklin- thank you all

    Nice, but small and expensive
We decided on the 3pm happy hour tickets. You only need half an hour to an hour to go around. We were really disappointed how small this museum was. It is nice to go around. most statues are pretty well done. but again it is small and even with the happy hour reduced pricing it was too expensive. The kids wanted the experience. they liked it. but just know that within the hour you will have finished

I used to go visit the one in London as a child and didn't think this would come close... However we were all very pleasantly surprised. It was great fun, well set out, bigger than we expected and a good variety of personalities. We took our 8 year old daughter and she had great fun. I highly recommend this and especially when they have the live bands playing sessions. That was a great bonus.

Hi Gavanf, Wow! Thank you SO much for your amazing review!! We are so glad to hear you and your family had such a wonderful visit with us. With guests previously visiting our main attraction in London, it does set the bar high due to the sheer size of the attraction, so to hear we exceeded your expectations makes us Aussies very proud. We do have over 100 figures within the attraction which you are right, people don't expect! Also a dedicated team who look after each and everyone of them too - that is how we keep our celebs looking so wonderful. We are glad to see you were able to enjoy our Sydney Live Sessions!! This is something completely unique to us here in Sydney so i cam glad you were able to experience, I totally agree! Thank you so much again for your kind words, we can't wait to see you again soon for some more FAMOUS fun! Cheers, Mikayla

We went on a hot day and the air conditioning struggles in this place, at least we pre purchased our tickets and didn’t have to wait in the huge lines. This is a very entertaining time for families with interactive photos with celebrities. Some are a lot more lifelike than others, but all in all a good time had by all. Take as many photos with them as you like, at the end they will try and get you to by a photo package for about $50 where they have imposed your group photos into different scenes.

Madame Tussauds in Sydney is located in Darling Harbour, among the bevy of attractions here. Like its namesakes across the world, it boasts of a decent collection of lifelike wax figures of famous local and International celebrities.

Compared to some of the other Madame Tussauds in the world, the one in Sydney is rather small and one can be done within an hour from here. It's best to opt for a combined ticket with other attractions to get more bang for your buck. One can see the usual Hollywood and musical icons, along with local Australian icons such as Captain James Cook and many of their sporting superstars and click some nice pics with them.

It's worth visiting if you are visiting any Madame Tussauds for the first time, else there's nothing much different about this place.

Hi Manish K, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review on your most recent visit to Madame Tussauds Sydney! I am glad to hear that you are a returning visitor to our attractions globally. You are right, we are smaller to other Madame Tussauds around the world in particular to Madame Tussauds in London! We just celebrated our 8th birthday (nothing on the 185 years on our London attraction!!) so we will continue to add in more and more the bigger we get. However, I am glad to hear you enjoyed our uniquely additions of our Aussie heroes! Did you know Madame Tussauds Sydney is only one of two that have the DC Justice League Zones? Definitely one we are proud to have. I would love to hear more about how we could improve your visit to a 5 star rating and would love if you could reach out to us on our email; madametussaudssydneyreviews@merlinentertainments.com.au because without feedback we are unable to make our attraction even better! We do hope to welcome you again some time, so you have the chance to rub shoulders with our celebs once again! Thanks again for taking the time to leave us your review. Cheers, Mikayla

Visited here with the family. Adult children really enjoyed the interaction with some of the exhibits. Some are very life like. There was a long lineup to get your pic with the royal family so didn’t bother. Only tip is don’t rush your way through the exhibits to get more value for your money!

Hello, There's nothing cheesy about Madame Tussauds other than the smile on your face when posing with your favourite celebs! ;) Thank you for your kind comments, we pride ourselves on offering a high quality attraction and I will be sure to pass on your feedback to our amazing studios team. As we speak, there is no line for the royals so I encourage anyone who is a bit of a royals fanatic to come in the morning or on a weekday, that way you can spend as much time as you like with our favourite family! Thank you again for visiting and I look forward to welcoming you back in the future, for some new and exciting additions! Kind Regards, Dale

Expected this to be a waste of time, however it surprised me.

The wax figures are well done, the kids had a great time, plenty of photos taken.

After fighting the hordes at sea life this was a nice change!

The only negative were the pushy photo sales to lighten your wallet, I managed to stop my wife buying another two books worth of photos but she still bought online copies.... which I’m sure she will never look at!

Wow! Madam Tussauds was incredible. The figures were so life like.
The way the experience was set up is clever and very interactive. This means no one gets bored. They allow you to take plenty of photos as well as some paid ones if you wish to buy. We loved the singer's who were so cleverly set up and life like. An amazing time. Love, love, love.

Came here recently with my boyfriend and we both had a very fun time and took lots of pictures. The wax statues are so life like it's scary!!!! In one of the rooms there is a photo booth where you have your picture taken and then you can choose a Marvel themed border for the photo, I chose Groot. In this same room you can also have a wax casting made of your hand.
PS I must shout out the wax figure of Lady Gaga as I am a Little Monster Paws Up!!!

We visited first thing upon opening on a Monday morning. It wasn’t too busy & we had lots of areas to ourselves & had fun taking pictures. We do think it’s a little pricey at $40 each (booked online) but it was an hour of fun nonetheless! Recommended 8.5/10

Hi Eau, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we are so glad you enjoyed your visit! However, we’re sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the price of entry. We think the best value comes from our cluster tickets, where you can visit one of our sister attractions (WILD LIFE, SEA LIFE, or Sydney Tower Eye) - the more you see, the more you save! We’d definitely recommend getting one of these tickets next time. If there’s anything else we could have done to make you feel like a VIP than please reach out to us at madametussaudssydneyreviews@merlinentertainments.com.au. Thanks again for your feedback, it goes a long way to help us give everyone a VIP experience! - Cheers, MT Sydney

Quite a fun trip and quite cheap with the four attractions sealife ticket. However, I was disappointed in the size of the three attractions, as they only took a few hours to go around all of them. This one took less than an hour. But as I had been conned into the four attraction ticket thinking it was a bargain, it was a fun day out with some recognisable faces - like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Pink, Leo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Einstein... And some superheroes. But also a lot of faces I didn't recognise and I was wondering who they were. I would have liked a larger Australian part, as crocodile Dundee was placed at the front away from the main part and Steve Irwin was one of the best, it would be nice to have some snakes or something with him. There were props for some of the characters if you wished, but I worry about the cleanliness of these as other people have worn the clothes and hats.

G'day there, Fern! WOW!!! Thanks SO MUCH for rating us 4/5! We truly appreciate the time you took to write this review, and we're PUMPED to see that you had FUN. Our Madame Tussauds is tiny but mighty with over 100 figures out on the floor, and we are the only one in the Southern Hemisphere! Our dedicated Studios Team members keep our CELEBS looking FRESH and FABULOUS for any RED CARPET occasion! We have INTERACTIVE touch screens around the attraction to keep guests up to date with the latest GOSSIP on all the figures around the site, and we definitely have a good mix of LOCAL and INTERNATIONAL CELEBS!!!! Madame Tussauds around the globe definitely aim to host LOCAL HEROES on site, which you can definitely find in multiple areas like History and Sport. We also promote cleanliness by spraying our PROPS and INTERACTIVES frequently after the attraction has closed, ensuring that COVID safety measures are upheld. We hope to see you back here STRUTTING YOUR STUFF on the CATWALK again soon! Kind regards, the Madame Tussauds Sydney Team
