The Pitt Street Mall is one of the shopping hubs in Sydney. Most major chains are have stores here in some stunning buildings. This mall is quite clean and tidy and the people seem to socially distance as much as they can.

The mall is regarded as one of the trendiest and busiest shopping districts not just in Sydney, but all of Australia. It's a relatively short pedestrian area between King and Market Streets but still hosts nearly 500 specialty outlets and the Westfield Centre. Good range but mostly top end. Busy mall, throngs of people when we visited on the Monday and Thursday. I think a 'must do' when visiting Sydney if only for the experience.

If you like malls, this is probably as good as it gets. Doesn't go for many blocks but is spacious with lots of seating. Has a variety of stores adjoining it, both complexes like Westfield and heritage type arcades like the Strand ; so there is something for everyone.
Quite a few buskers for those who like music while they relax.

Pitt Street Mall is a great place to visit. It is especially nice if you are looking for some interesting street entertainment. If you want to do some shopping then prepare to pay high prices! Lots of shops, plenty of fashion, cafes and the like. We love to just walk around and look.

This is one of two malls in Sydney the other one being the Martin Place Mall. This one has more people as has more shops. It goes from Market Street and King Street. It has many seats and the only thing missing is a visitor information booth. There was one in Martin Place but that has been taken away .

In the last few years Sydney has undergone a major renovation to their shopping precincts attracting the world most respectful fashion brands making the inner-city an excellent experience for the locals and the millions of tourist visiting Sydney every year for shopping.
Standard Shopping Hours are 9am to 5.30pm except on Thursdays, late night shopping, when many shops are open until about 9pm or 9.30pm, and weekends 9am - 5pm or 4.30pm. Shops are open 7 days a week.
Australia has a 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST) included in the price.
Under the Tourist Refund Scheme, tourist leaving the country can claim a refund of the GST paid on goods bought in Australia if you have spent AUD$300 or more in one store, no more than 60 days before departing Australia, the offices are located in the departure area of international terminals. You must present the goods and invoices at the time of the claim.

The Westfield Group had origins in the western suburbs of Sydney. The first development was named "Westfield Place", and opened in July 1959 in Blacktown.The name Westfield is derived from "west" related to the West-Sydney location.The centre was opened by John Saunders and Frank Lowy.
During 2010 - 2014 the site of Westifeld Sydney undergone a A$860 million redevelopment. The new centre fronts three streets, including the Pitt Street Mall, Castlereagh Street and Market Street. It provides skybridge connections to two of Australia's major department stores, Myer and David Jones and it's house to approximately 370 stores. Among them the following: Calvin Klein, Gap, Zara, Chanel, Gucci, Ermenegildo Zegna, Bottega Veneta, Prada, Guess, Esprit, Nespresso, Versace, Tag Heuer, Salvatore Ferragamo, Cue and Nike.
Bondi Junction Westfield is one of the most luxurious shopping centres in Australia. The six-level complex located in 500 Oxford St, Bondi Junction is notable for its modern structure and upmarket retail, with several anchor tenants including David Jones and Myer department stores, Coles and Woolworths supermarkets, an Event Cinemas complex, as well as a flagship Harvey Norman store. The centre, with more than 445 shops, had the highest sales internationally among the Westfield group in 2005 with sales of $754 million.
The Queens Victoria Building was designed by George McRae and completed in 1898. George Street has been named number six on a list of the world’s top shopping streets compiled by Paris-based market consulting company Presence Mystery Shopping. Forget about Fifth Avenue in New York or Rodeo Drive in Californina! With a increasing number of labels choosing this street us their home, friendly sleek boutiques, unusual funky shops, top-end fashion stores, wine bars, bakeries, cafes, the Queen Victoria building, Apple Store, Cue, Peter Alexander, Top Shop and Louis Vuitton things have just started to get better, with plans to turn it into a pedestrian mall as it's parallel street, Pitt St Mall which has some of the most expensive commercial rents in the world and runs for just 200 metres. The street will be close for traffic while construction workers will start to dig up the street for a $1.6 billion tram line to run from Circular Quay through the city to Randwick and Kingsford. The line should be finished about 2019. With studies proving that turning a street over to pedestrians increases foot traffic, resulting in an increase in profits to the business tenants, there is no wonder why George St made it to the top 10 list and why so many stores are moving there.

Shopping for Opals: there is a good shop in the The Strand - Spectrum Gems - and around the city you can find opals here and there but The Rocks in renowned for it. Opal Minded is known to be the best opal store in Sydney. Other good shops at The Rocks are Masterpice Jewellery, Opal Fields, Opal Planet, Opal Strike, Rockhounds and Sogo Opal Jewellers.
Adventure clothing and gear: The place to go is "Adventure Alley", on Kent Street, between Druitt Street and Bathurst Street. Shops found here are Macpac, Kathmandu, Paddy Pallin, Mountain Design, Larry Adler, Mountain Equipment, Mitchells Adventure, Trek & Travel, Snowgum and Patagonia.

ABC ford Kids at The Strand Arcade or Hobbyco Shop inside the QBV. I really like the design on Cottoon for Kids and it's cheap. Seed is also a great brand, with soft natural materials and cool clothes and toys.
After all you hard spent money, relax with a glass of wine an done of the best views in the world at the Opera House Bar.

This is an upmarket area. Shopping for those who can afford it or those who think they can.... All the expensive stores are located here. It is a great area to walk along. There are many street entertainers who in fact offer some really exciting acts! And all you have to do is stay awhile watch or listen and maybe make a small donation. There is also a lot of traffic in the surrounding streets, but the Mall is quite safe from that. Apart from the fashion shops there are many bars and restaurants too. It's worth going there just for the fun of it. And there is a particular area that you will really love, and that is the Strand Arcade, which bears a similarity to some of the nice old European arcades in Italy, Spain and France. Definitely worth visiting.

If you want to go for a high-end shopping and exercise the limits of your credit card, then this is the place for you! like many other high-street shopping districts around the world, it is posh and well-presented.
my biggest complaint, hoards of smokers outside the shops!!! it was unbelievable! I couldn't stand outside the shops, it was impossible to breath! when we got back home, I had to change cause I was ricking of the nasty smell!!!

MYER is worth the visit alone if you love clothes shopping! It has several floors of clothes and an entire floor of makeup! Had my eyebrows done in there from the most lovely Russian girl. Add in other shops and it’s worth going to the city! Top Shop, Sephora, Zara. Body shop and Lush in the close hey QVB! A must for shopping in Australia!

There is a huge food court in the basement of this mall. It is AWESOME with TONS of options to choose from. The Vietnamese stall serves delicious Pho bowls. From freshly squeezed juices to baked chocolate cakes, I am sure you will be able to find something that would appease your taste-buds. You won't find much if you arrive after 5pm so come earlier than that to avoid having to choose from leftovers.
