Nice Chinatown, encompassed by many other Asian food & shops nearby.
As with most Chinatowns, there will be more Chinese restaurants & shops here. But there are also lots of other Asian food & shops here , within & around Chinatown. There is a Thai & Korean street nearby as well. Overall a great place to stay here in Cinatown.

Iconic Gateway, great place for browsing
Chinatown Sydney, iconic Chinese inscribed gateway, some things haven't changed - haven't visited Sydney in a long time. Tram or walked, Market City, Paddy's Market: fresh vegs + fruit, souvenirs, clothing, yumcha, restaurants & more – great experience. (I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), wear a legbrace.)

Place to see some Chinese culture
We visited Chinatown a few days ago . Plenty of places to get your dose of Chinese culture. Lots of shops selling Chinese things as well as good drinking and eating places. Very busy place, a hive of activity . We enjoyed a nice lunch here.

    As vibrant as ever!
Chinatown in Haymarket was as bustling and scintillating as ever last month. It was a great place to hook up with friends at. The lucky red-painted arches were particularly attractive and photogenic. We took great numbers of pictures and particularly enjoyed checking out the food stalls.

Although it’s far from the biggest, or most extravagant Chinatown in the world, it’s certainly a special place. It’s changed a lot since I was a kid, and the streets seem dead in comparison to the pre-covid era. But it is still a sight to behold. With some of the best street food, art, dessert, authentic Chinese cuisine at every price level, karaoke, shopping, and entertainment, it can’t be missed. It’s nostalgic, but it’s always best to know where to go. I would definitely recommend googling spots as opposed to just walking in anywhere, some places are better than others. But it’s all part of the vibe.

Sydney's Chinatown has been an institution for almost as long as Sydney itself. However in more recent times the character of the area has changed somewhat. It is instantly recognisable as Chinatown due to the Chinese restaurants and various other shops, as well as street signs bearing Chinese, as well as English characters. But the atmosphere that used to be around the place seems to have gone, as we sadly discovered in a recent visit.

Surprised to see how small this Chinatown is compared to others in major cities around the globe. Still, there are quite a few restaurants, bars and stores to enjoy. Enjoyed dinner at a restaurant then stopped by 85 Degrees Cafe afterwards. All in all, a worthy adventure.

Having recently visited Melbourne’s Chinatown I found this one lacking something. Maybe it was wrong time of day, the weather, who knows?
There was a noticeable lack of atmosphere and we seemed to be in and out in a very short while.
Wouldn’t rush back, but would revisit if in Sydney again.

I have visited the Chinese areas (or Chinatown, as they are called) in many cities around the world. It was with similar expectations that I visited the one in Sydney. Located at a short walk from the Darling Harbour, I expected it to be a bustling place of little treasures and small Chinese food outlets.

What I saw, however, was that the vibe wasn't quite there. There were only a few such shops and there was next to no buzz nor feel about the place. Even the souvenir shops had less variety than the Paddy's Market next door. Somehow, it's not a place one needs to specifically take out time to visit in Sydney.

We had a walk through and around China Town but didn’t spend that much time in the area. We visited here about the same time last year. We didn’t eat in any of the restaurants this time. China Town itself seemed very quiet with not that many people milling about. Great choice of restaurants in and around China Town.

A very small and modest Chinatown compared to others. In practice, along one dirty and messy street, a few boutiques and a lot of tourists. It's worth walking past, but it's hardly worth spending time here.
