Fort Denison is a wonderful part of Sydney Harbour history. Easy access by ferry or water taxi from Circular Quay the self guided tour has great information boards that explain both the indigenous and colonial history of the island. Be there for the 1.00pm cannon firing, it's great.

The tour of Fort Denison with the NPWS was informative and took you in to the 3 levels of the tour which you wouldn't otherwise see. The ranger knew her stuff and was very flexible to suit the small group. The information available on the arrangements for the tour though is very poor- needs to be clearer about when and... More

After a three week holiday in Australia my wife and I were looking for a very special place to celebrate what a special holiday we had had with our three adult children and our son's girlfriend. We picked Fort Denison almost by chance. What an inspired and wonderful choice this turned out to be. The island is just a few... More

Took the Captain Cook Cruise out to the fort for the time slot at 10:45. Got to island for a paid guided tour for 11:15. Got to the island with 5 other visitors. We all took the tour. Tour is 1/2 hour and should end 11:45 so we can catch the next departure off the island at 11:50. Tour started... More

The maitre de was just lovely... witty and cheeky but good fun! We had 3 courses and wine n coffee in a relaxing environment enjoying views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge n eating... More

Not at all what we expected, a knowledgeable guide met us off the Captain Cook ferry and gave a very in depth tour taking approximately an hour. After we visited the restaurant where an attentive, professional gentleman provided an excellent service and a super meal both in preparation and flavour. Everyone was given notice of the cannon going off and... More

Only need a short stop here unless you do the tour - the only way to go inside the fort. Plenty to read - mini museum. Toilets and restaurant available here. Nice views.

This iconic landmark has stood on this spot for over 200 years, and if only the walls could talk. All of these places are full of history, and makes one wonder just how our ancesters survived the harsh climate of the penal colony. I am an descendant of two of the first fleet convicts and found this site very interesting.

Very recently I took my 88 year old Father back to Fort Denison with family and friends. This was a very special visit for him as he had not been back since staying there as a youngster. My Uncle, his Brother-in-Law was born there, and hence my father having some wonderful memories and tales he wanted to tell. Romaine, our... More
