Shelley beach is about a 15 minute seafront walk from Manley beach and is situated in a small bay with a small park behind the beach and a very nice eatery close by. Very popular families with very young children and appears to be very sheltered.

Manly had all the no swimming warnings up so, spotting a small beach in the distance, we strolled along the boardwalk to the right. Fabulous little spot with great seafood restaurant hidden away too. A little gem.

Following the recent merger of a number of local authorities car parking at Shelly Beach is now free to local residents so make sure to travel there in a vehicle registered to a local resident and you save what used to be exhorbitant parking fees. The same is true for all Manly beaches but a time limit applies at some... More

We arrived via Manly Ferry which was fantastic. Walked through to Manly Beach and then noticed many people walking towards this little bay. The wind was southerly which, meant the bay was sheltered and absolutely stunning. The walk was excellent. Wide path for many people to walk, ride or run on. Lot's of little stopping areas, sculptures, wildlife and architectural... More

cute little beach. lots of locals. very clean. nice cafes and restaurants around. not far from Manly beach. we did a shore scuba dive here. water was colder than I'd like, and not very clear. this area is better for just playing in the water or laying in the sand.

My friend and I took the Ferry from Circular Quay to Manly and walked towards the Esplanade and on to Shelly Beach. We had good weather - it was sunny but cool and we walked passed Marine Parade, Cabbage Tree Bay, etc towards Shelly Beach Park and back. Plenty of activity around us with people lounging on the beach, others... More

We went there for curiosity and find one of the best beach around Sydney area. We did not expect to find this wonderful and interesting place. If you go to Manly Beach, do not miss out this existing 20 minutes walk to Shelly Beach, you will be impressed!

We walked here going to The Boathouse and it's an amazing view with plenty of things to do. I just wish we had time to swim!

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
