They do daily tours which are free if you meet outside the cafe. Just happened upon the tour as we were wondering through. Was a nice tour and we got a bit more info about the place than the pretty plants we otherwise would have just walked past.

Love the Botanic Gardens! They are so pretty, and even though I have been so many times, I still see things that I have not seen before! So pretty and smell so good. There is plenty of grassed areas for people to sit and relax, or have a picnic. You can even catch a live event during the dry months-... More

A wonderful place to meander, walk on the grass, picnic, or just relax from the stresses of City Life! In the centre is a cafe and restaurant, if that is your thing!

A great way to spend a quiet afternoon and escape the hustle and bustle of a busy city. There is a lot to see here and so many beautiful spots for a picnic or to sit and read a book under an old and beautiful tree. The rose garden is stunning

well worth the short walk from the Quay, or can be accessed from CBD easily too (the walk around the Opera house is a nicer walk though. At a guess, 10-15 mins at ambling pace. The gardens are extremely well maintained, some magnificent old trees, and sculptured gardens, with lots of grass for picnics etc. Plenty of birdlife, The views... More

This is a glorious oasis and resting place in the hub of such a busy, boisterous city; Sydney. From Mrs Macquarie's chair one can look across the whole city and the stunning harbour skyline. Then stroll to the art gallery in one direction, or to the Opera house in the other direction. The gardens have many sections and include tropical,... More

Garden is well manicured and maintained. Lots of beautiful flowers, trees, and birds to see while there. Also a wonderful place to lie on the grass and enjoy the sunshine. Great place to walk and there are directional maps everywhere. It is very near to the Sydney Opera House so you can actually make this a great detour if you... More

Best to arrive using public transport Parking is not all that easy. The Gardens are a good venue for any age group also from Solo visitors to Families. Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
