Neighbourhood: Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

Simply stunning

A beautiful back drop to Hyde Park. Stands this architecturally stunning structure built in the gothic style, be sure to go inside as the vaulted ceiling add to the beauty.

Impressive building
Oct. 2020
St. Mary's Cathedral is a beautiful church. Built in the tradition of the great cathedrals of Europe, it dominates its surroundings. It is next to the Hyde Park Barracks, opposite the lovely Hyde Park and it is within a short walking distance of other sights like the Art Gallery of NSW, the State Library and the NSW Parliament. It is certainly worth a stop if you are in the vicinity.

This is a pretty big cathedral next to Hyde Park. Both the architecture and the interior are beautiful. Recommended to visit.

Imposing and lovely cathedral to visit
Dec. 2019
The St. Mary's Cathedral in Sydney is hard to miss. It's located right next to Hyde Park and the Archibald Fountain, with the Hyde Park Barracks, the Australian Museum and numerous other attractions close by. That said, the cathedral by itself dominates the surroundings, with its Gothic architecture and its twin spires the highlight.

When we visited, it was evening and there were relatively few worshipers and visitors. The cathedral, from inside, was equally quiet and impressive. The stained glass windows were a particular highlight. The lighting was dim but sufficient and the place radiated spirituality and peace. It's a good place to visit; one can spend 30-45 minutes here; longer if one wishes to pray.

Good But Not a Must-See
Sep. 2019
It's a nice church but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. If you happen to be walking to Hyde Park or elsewhere - stop in. There isn't much that can be done to improve the experience - it is just a church that is better enjoyed from the outside.

3rd Sunday of Lent
Mar. 2020
Went to Mass on the Third Sunday of Lent. The bishop had the 10:30 mass along with 10 other clergy. Latin, singing, chants. Grand Building enhanced it all. Stained glass windows reminded us of St. Sulpice in Paris. Easy to get to. Near the downtown shops if you walk a bit. And we like to walk.
