The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. If you’re into opals this is the place to go. Located in the Rocks opposite the cruise terminal. Visisted on our 3 past visits to Sydney and purchased on line during Covid which went well. Lucky enough to be in Sydney in February 24 so expect we will be paying a visit. Lovely staff and no pressure.

Trip to Australia is incomplete if one has not looked into the OPAL, a mineraloid.
Our internet search revealed, "Opal Minded", as the destination for some serious shopping.

We had a wonderful time shopping as we learnt about the mining, characteristics and why opal is distinctly different from a crystal or diamond. The play of colors under light had a spectacular Doppler like effect.

We were introduced to the world of Opal by Ms. Nelly, at the store, show casing us the variety available. We admire her knowledge of the product, the intellectual honesty in helping and guiding us to choose the best within our allotted budget.

For all the Opal buyers out there, we recommend you must visit, "Opal Minded", for a good buy as an investment and see Mother Nature at her best in all splendors.

Amazing experience

I have always had my heart set on buying opal earrings in Australia. Of course my birthday is in October! From the moment we entered the shop, we were treated like we were their most important clients. Nelly showed us loose stones and taught us the different types of opal. She walked us around the store and got a feel for what caught our eyes and tried to find similar pieces. We found the most extraordinary pair of earrings with amazing fire. She carefully boxed and sealed the jewelry so we could bring them home duty free. Once we got home about a month later, the earrings were even more beautiful than we remembered. I haven't stopped wearing them since.

Opal Minded is the place to buy authentic quality opals from Australia. I did extensive research before deciding on a special purchase. The attention to detail, the customer service, their professionalism, and outstanding quality and authenticity of their gemstones makes Opal Minded stand out above all the others. I am thrilled with my purchase and the customer experience was outstanding. Nelly, one of their certified gemologists, is so wonderful to engage with. I would not hesitate to purchase online once again. In fact, I already have! Thank you for the stunning and unique opal and the memorable experience.

I was on holliday and went in since i saw the high reviews. Getting into the shop does not dissapoint, it looks verry nice and as soon as i got help from Nelly it all went great. She helped me allot i gave her my budget and she showed me multiple designs and opals. They are verry knowledgeable and extreemly helpfull.

Its a great shop if you are looking for a few opals :)

Beautiful opals, top notch shopping

Opal Minded has an amazing collection of opals in a variety of settings. The options are especially impressive if you think of opals only as milky-white stones. The quality of the pieces is top notch. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient. And very pleasant to deal with for both in store and on line shopping. A first rate shopping experience.

Outstanding service, stunning jewelry

I had fantastic experience with Opal Minded. The gems and the beauty of design is exceptional. The staff is very helpful and well informed. I visited the store 2 times before making the decisions and every time the sales person was very patient, pleasant and professional. They are able to present the best offer for your budget and provide great advise. It was a great pleasure to meet Renata- the creative Director, who is a very warm, kind person, caring a lot to provide the best possible service to the customer. She enjoyed talking about different pieces and you can clearly tell that she has great passion for her profession. Her designs reflect this passion and knowledge and are made to enhance beauty of the stone. It was also interesting to learn about interesting history of the family business and I simply had a lovely time talking to the owner. I bought an amazing set that fills my heart with joy every time I look at it. I bought some gifts as well and to make the best choice some items were even transferred for me from another location! Every purchase comes with a certificate signed by a gemologist and they are very helpful with delivery options. The service was absolutely outstanding- best experience in my buyer's history.
I hope I will come back!

Fantastic Experience!

My son lived in Australia for two years. When we came to visit I knew I wanted Opals. I talked to some of the locals in his office and they all recommended Opal Minded. We had a great in store experience and bought some wonderful interesting jewelry. Fast forward two years - it’s the middle of the pandemic - my daughter chipped one of her Opals and was broken hearted. I reached out to the store and they told me to send it back and they would repair it ! Well they stood behind their work and she got her earring back today. I can’t say enough to recommend them !
