What a wonderful trip! Our tour was led by a warm and welcoming guide named Ronnie, who was quite the favorite with the locals in Katoomba (I'm looking at you, Nigel). Ronnie brought a high level of enthusiasm and positivity to our adventure, which was totally necessary as the day was almost completely rained out! Instead of repeating the tour as it was originally scheduled, which would have had us looking at dense fog, Ronnie changed the order of events to highlight the beautiful waterfalls. This was a brilliant decision because although the rain created fog that made the 3 Sisters (a rock formation) impossible to view from afar, the same rain made the waterfalls, which can be a mere trickle during warmer months, quite impressive to see. And, in case you were wondering, Ronnie did find a closer observation spot to ensure our group saw the 3 sisters despite the thick fog. Ronnie also found a lookout later in the day when the fog lifted, and the view was reminiscent of Middle Earth! I truly felt like we had arrived at Erebor due to the lingering mist. If you don't get that reference, read the Hobbit :) During the tour, Ronnie also provided the names of plants, trees, and local animals while mixing in aboriginal history and folklore. We thoroughly enjoyed his knowledge of tea trees and eucalyptus leaves. He also educated us that you can sponsor a Koala for only $70 AUS each year. This is something my partner and I are excited to do as it is a way you can support local wildlife and natural habitats even when you return home! When we stopped for lunch, the food in Katoomba literally exceeded my expectations. I expected white bread sandwiches, but instead we received gourmet lunches. The local coffee shop "Frankly my dear coffee" also provided a stellar Australian coffee experience (flat white, long black, cappuccino, etc.) and bakery (Chocolate cookies with marshmallow and caramel popcorn as toppings). As for group dynamics, our small tour group started as six total strangers, but ended as friendly acquaintances. My partner and I are American, but we also had an English woman, an Irish man, a German woman, and a Danish woman (Ronnie the tour guide was born in the UK but had lived in Australia for decades). I thoroughly enjoyed hearing everyone's perspectives and life stories. We learned were here only for a short while on Holiday (as they say in Australia), and others had come to work or stay on long visas. One risible part of getting to know others was when some members in our group took turns educating the others on common pejoratives used in their countries. I won't repeat the words here, but I must say human creativity knows no bounds when it comes to expressing unpleasantries! Briefly, I would say one thing that went wrong persistently throughout our tour was our bus had a faulty microphone system. The driver uses this microphone to entertain and educate you, but Ronnie had to continuously restart the system as it broke several times during our trip. In sum, I highly recommend taking this tour rain or shine! There is a sight to see in any weather.

A small group became a team during this 'Chase the sun 9days trip'. A fun and beautiful trip along the East coast, with really good activities : snorkelling, rafting, jungle swing,... and even just around a drink or a good meal. Great thanks to our best tour guide, Thourp. Always there for everyone anytime. He made everything run more smoothly. Full of life, he made our trip unforgettable ! A few points to improve though : the price of the trip was a bit too high despite all the travel and activities, and the number of meals included was unclear. It would be good to send the programme before departure Anyway, I retain from this trip beautiful meetings and great moments, thank you!

Thanks for the review. Our next departure we'll hand out a meal plan so everyone knows which meals are included where. But we challenge you to do this itinerary in the time frame given for less!

Chase the sun 9 days trip from Brisbane to Cairns was really fun and well organized, mainly tanks to our guide Thourp that made the experience far more entertaining and well planned, a real professional! There were a few cons tho: the trip is really expensive and they don’t really explain what is included and what is not; the driver was not the best; the accommodations were not amazing for the price; not clear explanations which meals were included. Overall, really recommend to see al the main attractions of the East Coast!

Hi, Thanks for your review. Everything included was listed clearly and with the meals we allow some freedom for the guide to determine the best meals to include that suit the itinerary. Not really sure how this trip can be considered expensive given all the adventure inclusions, accommodation, more than half the meals covered and you're own private transport with driver and guide for 9 days. As a guide, an equivalent tour with a global brand would be twice the price!

Did a road trip with a minivan from Brisbane to Cairns with a small group of people. We went along the coast of Queensland, including day trips to e.g. Whitsundays, Fraser Island, Magnetic Island. Our tour guide Thourp was the best, thanks to him the tour was amazing. He always made sure to solve even the smallest inconveniences. The tour was maybe a little bit expensive although in the end quite a lot of activies were included. One thing which could be improved is to clearer communicate which meals exactly are included. But also here Thourp made sure we always had delicious meals which satisfied everyone's wants.

Hi Meander, Thanks for your review. As it's most likely you'll only visit these destinations once, we focus on quality and fitting in as much as possible into the 9 days without making it seem too rushed. We include highly rated experiences and do not simply include the cheapest possible. As you mention, our guide gave you the more detailed breakdown during the tour which is standard practice rather than throwing too much information at you at one time.

I just did the 9 days brisbane to Cairns trip. It was very comfourtable (specially bc we were 6). The tour guide, Thorpe, has been an amazing professional. Setting the right mood and being a real problem-solver whenever we had the minimal inconvenience. The price is a bit too high for the hostels were there cheapest ones and only 15 meals are included (1,8 per day?)

Hi Claudia, Thanks for the review. We select the properties we stay at for a range of factors including capacity, location, facilities, price and social interaction. Given the challenges to meet the ever increasing range of dietary requirements, we feel we got the balance right by providing about half the meals allowing people to explore and find venues and menus that best suit their own needs.
