The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.

This ferry is not just about going from one place to another. It is the perfect way to see and explore Sydney Harbour and the entire region if you don't want to join a guided cruise. The view to the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House is amazing. I bought the "Hop On Hop Off Taronga Zoo Combo Pass" for two days. The 48 hours start when you first step on the ferry. With this pass I could also skip the waiting line at the zoo. It was perfect and a great value, especially if you know that you want to visit Manly Beach also. The ferry is comfortable, fast and on time. It is a great service. It is worth to use the Fast Ferry day and night.

We got on to the Fast Ferry thinking it was just another ferry, not realising it is meant to be more expensive and it is not government run. However we used our opal card and it cost us the usual small amount as the normal ferry. It was fast and comfortable and it did not really feel that much different from other ferries. We got from Manly to Circular Quay without any problems, and followed the same route as the usual ferry. The great views along the way are fantastic and you can get them travelling on any boat!

Had a enjoyable trip from darling har or to manly. Seemed profesionally ran and safe. Turned out to be a really scenic trip
This is a private co.pany and not the goverment run ferry. Wasnt obvious to me originally. But as i mentioned was scenic and comfortable.

This was the ideal package as it allowed us a rapid trip to Manley on the first day where we spent a very pleasant afternoon. These ferries run every 20 minutes so there was virtually no wait when we wanted to return. The following day the same ticket allowed us to do the 2 hour round trip which in addition to Manley gave us additional hop off and on places, zoo, Watson Bay Quarentine Bay and Darling Harbour. Best of all as senior citizans we only had to pay $35 for the ticket. There was a little commentary but it was not that type of cruise. Other more expensive trips may be better suited for that type.

So we paid and got on this ferry by mistake - we were actually looking for the normal day to day ferry that runs in sydney. We were so glad we made the mistake:

We were wanting to go from Darling Harbour to Watsons bay for lunch and then onto Manly and then back to DH. Firstly - the normal ferries cant go directly to Manly from WB you have to go back to Circular Quay and catch a ferry from CQ to Manly. So this was a win!! Secondly the queues for the normal ferry were ridiculous!!! We had such great seats on each of our hop ons and it wasn't overcrowded at all. No fighting to get a spot and the crew was really great. Well worth the extra cash.

With only one night in Sydney & a tight schedule we figured the $15 one hour City Sights cruise would be ideal for us. This was not a cruise, it was a water taxi going from A to B. NO commentary, despite the brochures saying there is! Zero. There were passengers already on the boat (picked up at another taxi stop) when we got on. First stop was Darling Harbour. Passengers got off and on (like a taxi) and we sat there for 20 whole minutes doing nothing! We watched drunk people partying up-close on other boats actually so you could count that as a City sight. We were confused. Wasn’t this a 1 hour cruise with commentary? We were told by staff on and off the boat that indeed it was the City Sights cruise. We asked “Are you sure?” twice! We regret that we didn’t abandon the boat at Darling Harbour. We could have spent more quality time looking around there rather than dodging other boats in the harbour. That’s all it was. A boat-dodging water taxi. The only incidental sights were the obvious ones you see on the ground at Circular Quay. The Bridge + Opera House. The captains mission wasn’t to show us anything evidently. The only commentary was a safety notice at the beginning of the round-trip taxi to Darling Harbour. Area around the bar was untidy and not kept at a professional standard. I wouldn’t trust this company again.

This is the best way to get around Sydney and see all of the sights. Low cost, comfortable ride with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Beware of the daily changing policy of Manly Fast Ferry. Owned and run by NRMA they put profits above customers.

Arrived at Circular Quay on Friday 25th October ready for the 5:40pm ferry - only to be advised that Opal cards wouldn't be accepted. I then had to join the queue of over 30 people to buy a My Fast Ferry ticket. Missed the 5:40pm ferry. No apology. No receipt for credit card issued.

Time for NRMA to put customers first. And, get up with technology - allowing a tap and go with Mastercard or Visa (if you don't want to let passengers use Opal cards) would be great.

Also time to change your misleading advertising - as your have stickers everywhere staying OpalPay accepted.

Take the F1 Ferry from Wharf 3 for a stress free, honest ride to Manly (and only 10mins longer).
