It could have been better organized at the start at Wharf 7, we arrived 18.10 well ahead of departure at 19.00. There was no information anywhere regarding any cruise leaving from wharf 7, a representative from the cruise company there to assist customers would have been nice. Having said this there were no representatives or info for any other cruise company either departing from Wharf 7, there were number of cruises departing around the same time.
Boarding was quite smooth; once boarded we went to the bar for a drink and received our green premium drink package band for our wrist. As advertised there was Champagne as well as other premium drinks available if you had a premium drink package. The “Champagne” turned out to be from memory Tatachilla white sparkling wine and retails at about $12.99, this is not champagne.
We asked for an Absolut Vodka & Tonic and were told it was not available to us even if we had purchased a premium drink package. My question here is to who was it available then, also why have it in the bar if we are not allowed to drink it! Absolut Vodka is by no a means a premium Vodka, the Vodka we got served was unknown.
The canapes served consisted of some seafood (prawns, oysters, mussels) and other food including some vegetarian food as well as sweets, this was limited to a small amount pretty much as per the advertising.
The choice of music was fantastic, very good Australian and International dance music I'm sure everyone enjoyed that part, unfortunately the volume was far too load. I am the first to say pump up the volume so you “feel” the music but when it feels like a knife cutting your eardrum and not being able to hear what your dance partner is saying to you - not good!
The staff did a brilliant job, I thought both barmen did well. The barman on the upper deck unfortunately seemed to work alone most of the night, we did not get his name but a very big thank you to him for a great job done along with the other crew.
The Captain did a good job getting around to various good vantage points for a great view of the magnificent firework display over the harbor.
Theme for the night: Color, there was supposed to be a competition for the best dressed person on board with prizes consisting of a trip to South Africa one to Thailand and one to Bali, we saw and heard nothing regarding that. The same goes for the signature cocktail which were supposed to be on offer throughout the evening. In all we could have had better value for the money we paid which made it a somewhat disappointing experience. I feel parts of the advertising was a misleading, it promised more than we got. Would I book this again – No

I do not recommend this type of boat to see the New Year's fireworks, the space outside is limited, most of the boat is covered, during the 12 am fireworks, the boat was in a position very far from the harbour bridge, also the boat was not turning and the people who were in the back of the boat did not see the fireworks on the bridge. If you don't pay for a seat, you can't sit for 6 hours anywhere, so it's not recommended for older people, I think there were a lot of people for such a small boat.
I think we could have paid a better place for the same price, we came from the other side of the world to see this show and it was disappointing.

This cruise sold to 100/150 people on embarking there was seating for approx 50 people with cushioned benches along sides of the vessel. People had to squash together with their backs to the harbour with outside decks designated to smokers and young chidren. Waiting in queue for 30 to 45 mins to be served lunch in 35 degree heat was torture and trying to eat while holding a paper plate topped food and cutlery while standing up in choppy water challenged the best of them and caused safety concerns
The food was plentiful and very nice after the long wait and the free ice creams distributed were most welcome.
Drinks including Apple Juice $16 plus and premix soft drink bottled water unavailable but free auto fill cups available challenging as it was. Climbing up stairs from bottom deck to top deck with half cup of water spilled due to choppy waters
The staff were friendly and worked very hard all day in the oppressing heat.
I would not recommend cruising on this vessel if you do not have the stamina to stand for 4 hours in choppy or even smooth waters. I am certain you would get better value for your money elsewhere

Incredibly disappointing experience with Sydney Event Cruises. From the very start they were late in picking us up, to the boat itself which was oversold as having 3 luxurious outdoor decks as I can assure you there was nothing luxurious about this boat. There was a few plastic seats, frozen finger food heated up, and decor that looked like it was set up from a bucks night the night before.
However the most disappointing was that the New Years Eve tickets were marketed and sold, for almost $400 promising fireworks from the best vantage point within the harbour. This was not the case due to the boat crashing not once but twice into Balmain wall, with the second time becoming stuck, which meant we missed the window to get under the bridge to see the fireworks. Not only did we not see the fireworks from the other side of bridge, but the captain took the boat as far away as possible and we saw nothing of the bridge or the main fireworks.
The atmosphere was ruined, there was no countdown - zero communication throughout the night, and a complete lack of customer service thereafter. I emailed requesting a refund and was given a $25 gift voucher, along with a list of excuses justifying everything that happened.
To say myself, my family and everyone on board was disappointed is an understatement. The fact that there was no apology on the boat, or even via email the next day just shows how much this company doesn’t value their customers. There’s no way I’d take the risk and ever book with this company again!

Did a Vivid Sydney cruise with this company in June 2022. I was blown away by the whole experience. The staff were super pleasant and welcoming. This cruise was a 2 hour, limited open bar with finger food. The bar was open all of the two hour cruise with house wines and beer/cider. Food was hot, tasty and plentiful. There was a DJ as well who played popular music for entertainment and dancing.
We used a Groupon voucher so it was sensational value.
Will be looking out for this in 2023. Highly recommended.

This is what I wrote to Sydney events cruises when they asked how I enjoyed the cruise
Dear Sydney event cruises
Are you kidding me???
Saturday night’s cruise was a complete and utter shambles. It was utter chaos from the moment we arrived at 7.45 pm to register Nobody from Sydney Events Cruises was there. There was confusion amongst the hundreds waiting to register. Finally someone arrived and told us to move away from wharf 8 and queue on the pontoon to register. We waited and a lady came and checked our tickets and gave us a drinks ticket and told us to wait there
At 8.30 she told us the boat was full despite us being about 20th in the queue and having waited since 7.45 pm. She told us to go to wharf 3
That was even worse chaos. There were hundreds of people squashed up waiting for a boat to arrive We began to doubt whether we would make the drone show but waited nonetheless
Nobody had any idea what was happening.
A boat finally arrived and it took forever for all the passengers to get off. There were at least 20 prams which were too large for the gangway and had to be carried It took at least 30 minutes to get everyone off
When we finally all boarded it was after 9.30 pm. The drone show was over and we were still at wharf 3
At around 9.45 pm there was an announcement for us all to get off as the cruise was now cancelled
The fact that you thought I was on the other vessel and actually saw the drone show shows a serious lack of safety on your part
For the safety of all your passengers You should have a list of the names of all those on board a vessel in case of accidents
It was complete waste of our Saturday evening. It was our only opportunity to see the drone show and you spoiled it
I obviously want a refund of all the monies I paid. I also want an apology and some sort of compensation
This is the second email I have sent you regarding this. Please have the decency to reply
Regards

My husband and I were on the boat that did not leave the dock. We flew from South Australia to Sydney to enjoy the vivid festival. As a last minute decision to see the lights via a crise we bought tickets to see the drone show. We did not venture out to see the other vivid lights thinking we would see the majority of them on the cruise. After arriving at dock 8 at 7:45 we waited over 2 hours in the disgruntled crowd, with no communication from authorities we were told by people from the public to move to dock 3. After being loaded onto the boat in total chaos we were then told the boat would not leave the dock and we had missed the drone show. This resulted in us missing the entire vivid light display. Not only was this very disappointing but the whole experience was unsafe and scary.
There is no other way to put it other than that it was an absolute #### show, a refund in tickets will not come close to the time and money we had spent to get to the dock in the first place, let alone getting back to the hotel.
No follow up has been given other than an email to rate your review.
I feel for the families with babies and children, the elderly that had to endure this chaos. The boat operator did everything in their power and was very helpful and professional to make things as safe as they could given the situation they faced.
100% regret buying the tickets and wished I stayed at the hotel.

This boat is not suitable for fireworks viewing, I am mentioning this explicitly for the benefit of others. The open space in the boat is disappointingly small. The driver of the boat did a smart thing by keeping the boat revolving for the 9pm fireworks and we hoped that this would mitigate the cover issue for the 12pm fireworks, but he was nailed by the maritime cops thrice for violating some regulations and closer to midnight he was quite far away from the harbour bridge. By the time he could get closer to the bridge he couldn't find a good spot and the passengers on board where running helter skelter for getting a good view of the fireworks. Adding to this he was revolving the boat in random directions at the exact moments. Very sad. The food was horrible, the drinks were ok, but the pouring brands of Gin and Vodka were some cheap brands. The onboard staff were good. Overall, I feel this could be priced lower because, we felt we did not get our money's worth.

I'm surprised that Sydney Event Cruises have asked for feedback on this one.
The Saturday night Drone cruise was complete and utter chaos.
When we arrived at Wharf 7, there was a gentleman holding a sign that said All Event Cruises. There were so many people lining up, it was difficult to work out which line to stand in. Why not have a sign that days Sydney Event Cruises as well? That would have made sense.
Our tickets weren't scanned prior to boarding, it was a complete free- for- all lining up and while boarding we almost got trampled on.
The minimal staff either complained that they were 'just doing their best' or they laughed because somehow they actually thought this whole thing was funny.
There was also almost no where to sit on the cruise. Very few chairs to sit on. We had to stand the entire time.
Sydney Event Cruises should be utterly ashamed of the offering from Saturday night and offer all guests a full refund. It was a complete disaster. I would not recommend Sydney Event Cruises to anyone.

From the minute the boat docked till the moment we disembarked, the thing that stood out was the friendliness and professionalism of the Crew. The courtesy shown to us, clear instructions during the safety briefing, punctuality of the cruise. The food, the drinks, the ambience, the music, the comfortable ride. We had the privilege of having a magician on board for our Xmas Cruise, he was so amazing. There was not one negative comment from any of us about the cruise. Well worth doing, Sydney Harbour is an amazing place and this cruise made it super impressive. Highly recommended.
