Spanish Blackboard provides a different experience through its dynamic methodology helping students develop the ability to speak, read, write and comprehend in Spanish. Our lessons are designed with our student’s needs in mind. We strive to provide a unique experience when learning Spanish through interactive private and group classes in the heart of Sydney. By creating a productive and efficient learning environment, our tutors are trained in up-to-date teaching methods and are university qualified native Spanish speakers. The course content in our classes are organised in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

my partner and i are planning a visit to Latin America at the end of the year (this was before covid) so we thought we would start taking spanish lessons now so we have almost a full year to get good enough to get by during our trip.
having a small class of 6 people really helps to reduce the distractions and increase the teacher to student focus. the location in the city is really convenient for us to get to after work and we love that each class is 2 hours because you really need that long to switch off from work mode, tune into the class, go through last week's homework and learn a new topic.
it's great being able to learn from a spanish-speaking native teacher. we had Laura Juez Caballero and she was great, very patient with us and really keen to help us learn and get a good grasp of the topics.
we were 7 weeks into our 10 week course and due to covid had to pivot to online classes. it's not as effective learning over the web (trying to ask questions with 6 people on zoom is not as fluid but that's due to tech limitations rather than any deficiencies of the school. we appreciate how much of a disruption covid has been to all businesses and it was great the school could continue the classes online. we still got through the remaining 3 weeks 'as usual'.
i think the only suggestion i would make is to involve a lot more speaking exercises and homework so we can practice our pronunciations (maybe record ourselves saying sentences or answers to questions or reading out paragraphs at home and sending it to the teachers for feedback?) - that might become more of a focus in the next levels, we don't know, we only just finished our first 10 week, level 1 course. it's been an overload of information as it is so it's not like we were left wanting in any way.
it was a lot to learn (as it is with all new languages) but fun to do it anyway and we feel great having done it, like we've accomplished something! we're signing up for the next level now and think it's a fantastic way to spend some of our iso time. definitely recommend Spanish Blackboard Academy to anyone who wants to learn spanish properly (the apps don't work anywhere as well as this!)

Thank you so much to the Spanish Blackboard team, especially Laura. Laura was very professional, patient and and made my spanish learning fun and extremely enjoyable.

I've recently taken 10 hours of private spanish classes with Laura in Sydney and it was seriously one of the best learning experiences! The classes are tailored to your needs and each lesson has been very interactive and fun. I have learnt a lot over the past two weeks and I would recommend Spanish Blackboard Academy to anyone who is keen to learn spanish (at all levels). I can't wait to come back to learn more! Thank you!

I attended Spanish classes in Sydney at Spanish Blackboard with Paz at the end of December. These classes were 1.5 hours as we only had 3 in our class (including myself) and some times only 2 of us. We seemed to cover a lot of ground in that space of time and we were given homework which helped to cement our learning and which was super important given we couldn't invest as much time in that in the class as you would in a 3 hour class. Paz is super patient, helpful, friendly, bubbly and flexible and explains things in an easy to remember way. I recommend Paz's classes.

Learning Spanish with Spanish Blackboard Academy has been a transformative experience for my partner and I. Their interactive classes and dedicated instructors make the learning process not only effective but also enjoyable. I have gained confidence in speaking and understanding Spanish, thanks to their immersive approach. Before joining Laura's class at Spanish Blackboard Academy, I was using language Apps to self-teach Spanish for several months with very little progress. On starting a course here I realised just how much I underestimated just how incredibly helpful a good teacher can be! Within several weeks my Spanish had improved dramatically, and I ended up staying in Laura's class for 2 years, progressing from A1.1 through to B2.3, and am about to start a C1 course in Colombia. I can now speak confidently with my partner and in-laws in Spanish and am so grateful to Laura for all her hard work and patience. She really has an incredible gift for teaching and an infectious energy that helps to bring anyone at any level out of their shell to give it a go without fear of judgement. The classes are always different, flexible, full of fun, interactive activities and are highly tailored for varying levels. Laura's method of teaching is really practical and follows a logical progression to get you speaking with confidence as quickly as possible.
The school was able to accommodate the shift to online learning during the pandemic with ease and we rarely felt we were missing out on anything during our online classes. They also provided great flexibility for those who lived further from the city.
The extra-curricular activities for the school are a fantastic bonus that you would never get with self-taught learning, including Spanish language picnics, group outings with games and topical conversational classes where you can practice with students outside your own level. These were a great way to meet people and to practice with our peers in a light-hearted environment,
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this as a language school for any level of Spanish. Muchas gracias Laura por todo!

Professional and fun native Spanish qualified teachers. The teachers speak to you in Spanish from the beginning, challenging you to speak and engage using the language. And of course, they do speak in English if you don't understand - for those just starting out!
