The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

The Galeries is one of the many shopping centres littered around the center of Sydney but it is one which I frequented a lot both when I was living in Sydney years ago and during my recent visit.

I came here mostly to go the Kinokuniya Bookstore but also to sit around and enjoy the food available here most notably Teishoku Yayoi and Toastie Smith’s. There is Sushi Hotaru and Muji here as well but I did not get the opportunity to visit. As someone mentioned in another review, there does seems to be a Japanese orientation in this shopping center.

From The Galeries, you can access Town Hall Train Station from its bottom floor and the Queen Victoria Building.

The Galleries is a boutique little shopping centre in Sydney and is a busy and bustling thoroughfare in peak times for train passengers getting to and from Town Hall station.

Highly popular here is Jimmy’s laksa, which is always packed at lunchtime due to its great food and prices.

Check out the Galleries if you’re in the area.

Another mall along George Street but not very big. Seems to link to World Square. Usual shops/dining mix. Worth a visit as shops are different

The Galleries is a smaller, compact centre, that sits next to the Sydney Hilton Hotel. The current four-level shopping centre was completed in 2000. I think it’s worth a look.

I went to The Galeries last year and again this year and still find it an interesting place. The layout is like a labyrinth so it's tricky to find some story like the big book shop on the top level. But it's a really nice place and the have good coffee stalls and restaurants available.

The Galeries would be one of the better malls in the CDB with an amazing bookstore (Kinokuniya) on the top floor. I would say the layout is a bit hard to navigate, but that is actually what kind of makes this place interesting. You feel like you're in the Escher paint with the stairs on the ceiling... crazy... Anyway, they have some really cool shops and also nice food venues and coffee huts, so I liked it. Give it a look, as it's across from the QVB, that you're going to anyway and I think it's connected underground. Enjoy!
