On a very hot and humid day, I chose to take the ferry to Manly. The trip is covered by the Opal card, as are all Sydney trains, trams (although they insist on calling them Light Rail), buses and most of the other ferry services. The journey usually takes 30 minutes each way and the time goes by quite quickly.... More

Capped Opal card means you get to check out lots of great beaches using trains, buses and of course - the fantastic ferries.

The ferry has a certain old charm. It runs like a Swiss Clock and the staff is very helpful and courteous. And not to forget: the views are breathtaking.

Took the public ferry to Manley to get views of the Opera House from the ocean. Nice leisurely ride out to Manley Wharf. No need to pay extra for the Fast Ferry (I believe it gets you to Manley 15 mins faster than the public ferry—using Opal). The public ferry leaves from a different wharf than the Fast Ferry @... A great way to experience the harbour on your way to Manly. This is a commuter ferry so there is no commentary. You can use your Opal Card and if you go on Sunday it'll only cost you $2.50.

We took the ferry to Manly to go see the beach. We were charmed by the fact that locals commute to work on it. We also LOVED the fact that we could get a harbour cruise without paying some god-awful tourist price for it. Make a day of it and go to the beach! If you can't; at least plan... More

Unfortunately, we were traveling with luggage so opted to stay inside both to and from Sydney. Having said that, it was very comfortable and clean and the windows were clean enough to see the scenery. I would have preferred being outside to take in the beauty.

We travelled from Circular Quay to Manly on the ferry. Excellent views of Sydney Harbour, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Prices were realy cheap too. Ferries are every 20 mins or so. They do get very packed, but that was maybe because we were there at New Year.
