We had the best day out on the harbour with Sydney Princess Cruises. The staff were so wonderful, the catering was fabulous and we just had the perfect day out. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

We had long wanted to try a cruise experience out of Sydney, and with domestic air travel back home. A cruise seemed ideal. We elected to board the Sun Princess ship from Sydney to Fremantle, on a standard sort of itinerary around the coast.for about 2 wks. We did a lot of research about horror stories on board these ships, but there was no consistency we could see. Some reviews were good, others not. The itinerary suited us well, so full steam ahead. We booked a cabin with balcony, which we thought was a wise choice. It was pleasant to sit on the balcony, relax, and watch the flying fish. The cabin was small, but comfortable.with a good bed. The shower was likewise a bit small, but hot water was good. The toilet was an education, We blocked it twice, with only normal conduct, no forbidden items into it at all. We learned to do our no. 2s, then raise up a bit, flush, sit and use toilet paper, and flush again. No more embarrassing maintenance calls after that. Food at the buffet was very good, with a wide choice all day. They only fell down once with an Indian night, which was fine, but with insufficient western alternatives for those who could not eat Indian style. Tea, instant coffee and juice was free, but barista coffees cost $3.50 each. The ice cream bar also cost extra, about $7, but was not worth it. We did not drink alcohol on this trip by choice, so I can't rate the beverage package at all. The same goes for the specialist dining options, in which there was quite a wide choice, and for the casino. We are not gamblers. On-board entertainment was very good we thought. The standard of the performers was very high, and varied. You could if desired rise early, breakfast, and go to one activity to another all day until late. Likewise you could sleep in, breakfast at 1000, then laze by the pool listening to music all day, and attend a show in the theatre after dinner. There was a well equipped gym, and this was often full, requiring a wait. We did not notice any booking system. Hygiene was noticably important on board. Before eating from the buffet anytime, we were required to wash our hands at provided wash stations. Hand sanitiser was also provided at all entrances to food areas. We did not hear of any virus outbreaks, although they did close the swim pools for 2 days and step up precautions at one stage. Shore visits were sometimes quite short, with excursions costing extra. We had been to several ports already on holidays, so sometimes did not leave the boat. However in general tours were often just a quick look around for 4-6 hours. We cannot rate them very thoroughly. This was a cruise for older people like us. We joked it was like a sea-going nursing home. Children would be bored, and there was little for teens. If as we did, you wanted a relaxing time with plenty of sit-down entertainment, it was good.

Super crew, very good food and wonderful memories! We saw a lot of whales, and this company is really respectful about those, making sure we don't bother the whales! Loved it!
