Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I took the tour with Eva, who was a fantastic guide. She took the time to greet everyone individually and learnt our names. She is not a local, yet has such enthusiasm for the city which showed in her delivery of the tour.
The tour itself comprised of the history of Sydney, which was really interesting. It also included great hints and tips of where to visit for culture and for food and drinks.
They also took your email so this information could be sent to you directly, which I think is extremely useful.
Would definitely recommend!

A short afternoon tour guiding you through central Sydney, seeing the history and experiencing the modern Sydney. Gino, thanks for all your little stories of Matthew Flinders, colonial Sydney, Sydney Harbour Bridge and so much more. Certainly a must-do!

The tour was wonderful! We were able to see and learn the early history of Sydney, but all of the insights offered by our guide made this tour exceptional. From first settlement to the back alley speakeasies made this a complete tour. The tour was three hours with a nice break in the middle. The three hours went by very rapidly as the guide was always providing information that just captured the group. Strongly reccommend the Walking Tour as it is local and unique, not a packaged recording.

The tour is advertised as free. It is not free at all, as you are expected to pay at the end.
In my opinion tips means just a few coins, but you are expected to leave much more. Jeeno the tour guide is so sweet, that you feel morel obligation to pay. As a result I payed much more than I could actually afford. Everyone in our group did. I am very angry about it. If I knew I would never joined this tour. If it is not free do not advertise it as free!

Hello Silke, Thank you for your feedback. As we say in our flyer, on our website, on our map and at the beginning and end of the tour, all guests are welcome to give whatever they thought it was worth. You were also very welcome to give a few coins for our tour if you wished so I do not think you can be angry at me because you gave me more than this. I would have happily accepted a handshake and possibly even a smile. I recommend you go on walking tours in other cities including your own city of Amsterdam and see how much or how little guests there the guide at the end of the tour for their hard work. All the best Gino

Gino was great. He tells most of the stories that explain the origins of Australia and the settlement of Sydney, besides tips of places to go and to eat at good value. Is is a free walking tour as most of the others. Prior to joining you know that at the end you can give some money for their work. But it is up to you, and you do it if you want and if we can. Very good in general. I lked a lot., Recomend! :D.

When I arrived in Sydney the first thing I did was go on the Walking Tour. It was such a great tour and Gino was such a nice and energetic guy with so much knowledge to share! I thought I was just going to see the sights and a few buildings in Sydney but I also learned a lot about the city and it's history and Gino really went the extra mile to help all of us in the group make our stay in Sydney that little bit better, as he came up with so many recommendations for food, how to use public transport, what to see and do while visiting Sydney! Can for sure recommend this tour.

Such a fun and interesting way to learn about the history of Australia. Gino is a fantastic tour guide making you feel super welcome and tells great stories without rambling and leaving you bored! Also can't say enough how great the information he gives out in his maps and email afterwards is! Don't miss out on this if you're in Sydney.

It was out of my plan. Just learned about the tour when I checked in YHA. Met different nationalities and learned something about Sydney history that I do not get to read online. Highly recommended!

I went on this walking tour on my first day in Sydney to orient myself. The group was around 15 on that day and varied in age. Gino is so obviously passionate about his home city and clearly sees this as much than a job; more a vocation. He wanted us to go away with tips that only locals would know as well as explaining things way beyond the boundaries of the route including coastal walks, good restaurants and bars in Manly, Bondi etc as well as the city itself. The map he gives you is super useful to keep onhand for the rest of your visit. We saw the main city area and heard the history of the city and its buildings and loved Gino's slightly irreverent and very honest take on the country and its founders. I cannot recommend this trip enough. It is free (unlike what one commenter wrote) - a couple of people on my trip didn't give anything and Gino was just as lovely to them as to others. We paid $20 each which we thought was fair for the time and effort he had put into it but he truly doesn't mind if people can't afford it. I would much rather donate to a guy putting his heart and soul into a start up business than a big commercial tour.

Really good tour with an amazing guide!
Learned a lot about Sydneys history without getting bored :)
Gino is a friendly guy and knows what he is talking about. He gives you really helpful insider tips (e.g. where to get cheap and good food and drinks).
All in all a wonderful tour, I really enjoyed it and can highly recommend it!
