We visit these gardens every time we are at Coffs Harbour, and are never disappointed. Being elderly, we particularly like the fact that it is all level. It is very pleasant to walk around the extensive gardens, and well worth walking all the way to the lake, which is pretty and calming. The creek walk is pleasant too, just like a level bush walk. Thank you to the volunteers who do a great job.

Fantastic visit to the gardens today. Highly recommend the taking the 45 minute guided tour on the buggy ($5) for commentary and information on the gardens and its history.
Well worth a visit. They also have plants for sake to support the gardens.

Really glad you enjoyed the electric buggy tour - the volunteer guides work hard to offer an easy way to see the whole garden and learn about the nature of the Coffs Coast.

A beautiful botanic garden which incorporates several natural ecosystems and forest and specifically planted areas containing many rare Australian and worldwide species. The planted Australian rainforest is a highlight and is readily accessible with raised boardwalks. We saw a lot of different birds which have made their homes here due to the variety of flowering and fruiting trees. There are also a lot of water birds in the lake and in the bordering Coffs Creek. This is a very well planned garden which is largely run by volunteers.

We planned to do a foreshore walk in Coffs, but it was just too blowy. So settled on the Botanic Gardens where there was next to no wind. It was a decision none of us regretted. The gardens are quite extensive and we did pretty much a full circuit. Particularly enjoyed the more local 'natural' sections of the park - the North Coast rainforest and the paperbark swamp forests, and the Creek walk. Unfortunately the Mangrove boardwalk was closed when we visited. Also was impressed that so many of the plants, local and exotic, were labelled. The Japanese garden with its teahouse, arched bridge and lake was a real treat - made more so by a couple of Spoonbills in residence. The greenhouse is also excellent and worth including on any garden itinerary.

Thank you for your detailed review and glad you enjoyed the shelter from the coastal wind. We are working hard to reopen the mangrove boardwalk near the entrance. There is another mangrove boardwalk at the far end of the garden past the lake and Japanese garden...where as you say the waterbirds love to visit.

Visiting the Gardens was a nostalgia trip for us as we got married there 27 years ago. The Gardens have grown since then. The there's a mix local, Australian, and exotic plants and trees to wander around. We spent over an hour walking around admiring the different parts of the Garden. It's cool and shady on a sunny day. Flat walk so easy for people with mobility challenges.

The coffee shop is closed because of Covid19 - you can still purchase cold drinks from the shop. Well worth a visit.

What a surprise!!. This huge garden is worth multiple visits. So much to see. Beautifully curated and presented. Lots of specialised exhibits- threatened species, various regional species, rainforest and native forest walks, a wonderful Japanese Peace garden and so much more. We spent several hours and could have spent a whole day. Unfortunately, the cafe and shop hours seem limited, because entirely staffed by volunteers. We wlll be back again next time in Coffs

Thanks for your wonderful feedback. We agree it is superb and expansive. And when you return we can now offer a new glasshouse experience with a tropical plant house and a shadehouse. We are working on the cafe!

Even though the gardens didn’t look their best due to it being winter it was still so lovely to walk through. Lots of tracks, all sealed and most wheel chair accessible. Some parts are more natural and feel like you could be in the middle of a national park. Sadly the glass house had been demolished because of storm damage I believe and the bird hide and mangrove board walk was closed off due to needing repairs. I took my lunch and a flask of tea and sat at the picnic tables just inside the entrance. Usually has a coffee shop but closed due to Covid. Definitely be back again

What a wonderful time in the Botanical Gardens. You can see that the Coffs Council have really put some thought into how to make it user friendly for all. Great access for wheelchair users as the walkways are a hard surface not gravel & they also had a little electric bus for those who have trouble walking. My granddaughters loves the sensory garden where handling the plants is encouraged & the water pond. Keep up the good work & look forward to our next visit

Lovely friendly volunteers a nice walking trail or varied gardens extremely well kept by volunteers. The e buggy tour for $5 is well worth it to see everything before then walking to favoured spots. No cafe which is a shame but nice to spend a hour or two here. But Take mozzie spray they’re everywhere!
The hot house is nice and Japanese garden, roses were past their best unfortunately in early May but still few nice blooms

Dogs are not permitted in the garden. You can take a dog on leash for a walk on the nearby Coffs Creek circuit path. We have over 100 species of bird and some threatened species of mammal living in the garden so like a National Park we want to maintain a safe wildlife refuge.

Yes, most garden paths are wheelchair and stroller friendly. We have disability access toilets at the entrance and by the Village Green in the heart of the garden.
