About
In 1964 John Landi wanted something to make passing traffic stop at his road side banana stall. He had heard of a "Big Pineapple" in Hawaii and thought that something big would definitely stop traffic. With assistance of 1200 pounds and local engineer, Alan Chapman, The Big Banana could become a reality. Builder Alan Harvey started the construction in September 1964 and the biggest banana in the world and Australia's first "Big Thing" was officially opened on December 22 that year. The Big Banana now boasts the biggest Water Park between Sydney & the Gold Coast, an Ice Skating Rink, Toboggan Ride, "The World of Bananas" theatre and tour experience, state-of-the-art Laser Tag arena, 36 hole Mini Golf Course, the biggest Giant Slide in the country known as "The Racer", Go Bananas Fun Zone, 4D Ride Simulator, Gift Shop, Going Bananas Cafe, Candy Making Kitchen, Opal Centre, Cheesemaking Workshop and Steve McEwans Reptile World. The Big Banana Fun Park, "It's a Whole Bunch of Fun!"

Visited for about 5 hours with a 9, 14, and 16 year old. The desserts we had throughout the day were delicious. It was busy but we never had to wait long for any activity. The longest wait was the 4D for about 20 minutes which for has limited capacity for each session. It was a very hot day and would've been nice to have somewhere to refill water bottles throughout the park instead of needing to purchase multiple water bottles for multiple people multiple times a day - obviously a good moneymaker but a lot of plastic waste. We also did the mini golf, laser tag, ice skating, and slide. It was expensive for what we did. We probably could've gotten more value for money by going and doing some of the things more than once but it was really hot and we were exhausted by the time we left. Overall we had a good day and enjoyed the outing.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather for our visit, but had a fun day regardless. The line for the toboggans was 30-40 minutes long. When we reached the font of the line, unfortunately it rained again and the track had to be temporarily closed (understandable). Luckily, the young guy said to our group of 4 kids and myself that we could come back to the front of the queue when it re -opened… we were very thankful for that.
The kids enjoyed the waterpark, iceskating, laser tag and the giant slide. Highly recommended

Visited here on 29th Dec. We stayed in the area overnight on our way to QLD.
The queues were VERY long. It was a drizzly day and after a lengthy wait in a queue for the toboggan, ride it was stopped due to the rain just as it was our turns. It was frustrating but safety has to come first. The young guy told us we could jump the queue when the rain stops, as we were next in line - which we were grateful for.
A fun day was had by all eight of us. Adults and kids between 8 - 13.
Plenty of things to do for everyone.
Souvenir shop was expensive.
We went to grab a bite to eat at 2 or 3 (not sure) and were told the kitchen was closed, we felt this was a bit too early.
Despite Covid, the majority of guest weren’t wearing masks and despite signage, there were many ignoring NO SMOKING signs.

Visited with family and friends (6 adults and 7 kids) during school holidays, spent the whole day was one of the best days! So much to do for 69 unlimited pass on school holidays. Great communication great staff even though there were a lot of people to handle! The 4D movie was the personal best experience. The staff kept closing the line since 4.30 pm but people kept coming and he kept adjusting the line. Kids were so happy and had a very memorable holiday.

We usually only visit the cafe for food (ice-cream for the kids) and the big banana itself for a new photo, but have missed it the last couple of times due to the time we travel through Coffs Harbour. We arrived an hour before the cafe opened so the kids missed their long-awaited Big Banana ice-cream :( Would love to see it open a little longer during peak holiday dates.

Hi Rohnie, Thank you for your review. We normally do extend our trading hours during the NSW Summer School holidays however like many other businesses we currently have a slight staff shortage so unfortunately this has not been possible every day. We hope to see you another time. Regards, The Big Banana Fun Park Team

Fu. Day out.

Spent the day here. We were 3 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 under 12 and. 3 year old. 2 of the adults didn’t buy a pass, but still enjoyed our day. I think for our group the unlimited ride passes were good value. Yes, it was busy (it is school holidays), but we were able to experience all on offer (even with a slight rain delay on the toboggan).

We were able to set up our shade tent and chairs in the water park, not overtaking anyone else’s space and brought a picnic lunch in the esky for us all to share.

My only criticism would be the 3 year old paying the same price ($59) as the older and talker children (under 14s). The little children and quite limited to what they can use due to height or even interest. An adult ticket has to be purchased with any child ticket, but we felt a much cheaper ticket for the really little people would be a better option (they have to do everything with the adult anyway).

We are local to the area (or have been previously) and have been enjoying trips to the Big Banana for over 30 years. Still a great place to be and a fun day out.

This place is a dismal day out. The staff are rude and have a terrible attitude. The majority of the staff look like they find the big banana as dismal as I do.
The park was run down and old. Paying $69 for a ticket to ride a toboggan, play a round of mini golf and go down some water slides is a rip off.
The cafe was busy and difficult to get a table at. It was overcrowded and the menu only available inside. This made it difficult to order and find a table.
The food - wow, we spent $70 on two milkshakes (these were actually quite good) and two mains. I wouldn’t have minded the cost if the mains were edible. The steak sanga was disgusting and not edible, the chicken parma was barely better.

This place is run down and old. Queues for miles and unenthusiastic staff.

Get a photo out the front and go. You won’t be upset that you didn’t enter the park.

Hi Daydream15875129968 Our staff are in the middle of an extremely busy school holiday period, serving hundreds of customers a day at the busiest time of the year, they do their very best to smile at every customer but sometimes they get tired! The $69 pass for adults includes Water Park, Indoor Giant Slide, Laser Tag, Mini Golf, Toboggan, Ice Skating, 4D Ride Simulator & our World of Bananas Theatre & Plantation Tour. This works out at just over $8 per attraction which is a fantastic deal! Our Cafe menu is on a QR Code on every table both inside & outside, it is also on our website and then displayed on a very large panel in the actual cafe. Due to Covid we no longer hand out menus. All the best to you on the rest of your holiday! The Big Banana Fun Park

Three families visited the park with children aged 12 and under. It was easier for us to select the ultimate pass each for adults and children. After receiving the receipt - which itemises the activities - in hindsight it would have been cheaper to pay only for the activities you would participate/ride. For an adult $69 ultimate pass - $28 was used in activities. Not value for money at all. Add on food and gift shop. The day was quiet expensive. Not complaining about the park or facilities, we all had a great day! Just wished I was thinking prior to purchasing the ticket.

Thank you for your feedback, So pleased to hear that you had a great day with us!! During the NSW School Holidays we only have our Unlimited Pass on offer for tickets so that everyone is on the same pass and we can keep track of our capacity numbers each day. It is a really great deal and works out at approximately $8pp per hour for a BUNCH of FUN!! If you do visit us outside of our peak period then you would absolutely be able to choose just one or two attractions. All the best, The Big Banana Fun Park Team :)

The Big Banana has been a tourist icon beside the Pacific Highway at Coffs Harbour for 50+ years, and these days it is a fully fledged tourist theme park with water park, mini golf and lots of other activities to keep a family busy for the day. This is just a review of the cafe, which is exactly what you would expect: very much a queue-up, fast-food establishment with standard meals such as burgers, schnitzels, toasties, pancake stacks etc. Nothing overly healthy here and it's expensive for what you get. Coffee was surprisingly good, though! The gift shop is next to the cafe and is quite large with many banana themed products available. Probably also a bit on the expensive side but I thought a pretty good place to browse for a souvenir or gift.

Thank you for your review, So pleased to hear you loved our coffee!! Our Cafe serves only the freshest food and we pride ourselves on NOT being a fast food outlet! Everything is cooked to order by our fantastic chefs. We use not only our own produce but many local products too, our salads are super popular at this time of year like our Thai chicken salad or Sweet potato and halloumi salad. Our gift shop also a very popular place for travelers, we stock the largest range of everything BANANA in the world plus lots of beautiful gift ware, clothing, Coffs Coast souvenirs and novelty kids toys starting at as little as .50 cents each!!
