Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The YPS is my daughters’ favourite place in Canberra! They love the train rides, mini golf and the farm animals. The cafe has great food and coffee and a fun train carriage vibe. We have held 2 birthday parties here when the girls turned 5 and 3, which everyone loved. YPS has wonderful options for parties, we did party food in a train carriage, 2 train rides and the jumpy castle, which went perfectly. I highly recommend YPS for birthday parties, family outings, mini golf, miniature train rides, visiting the animals or even just for breakfast, lunch or coffee!

Animals were friendly, but kept in very poor conditions. Their pens lacked grass, shelter or space. In the heat the animals were panting and had no shade. It was especially distressing to see the small dusty pen for the cow.

While our 2 yr old thought the train was great...the condition of the "farm" was pretty appalling...being from Canberra we understand winter is cold and damp, but the mud pits of the cow and goats and alpacas seemed in an unreasonable condition...a number of the trees are clearly dead and we just felt unclean being there, couldn't wait to leave.
Skip the farm, stick to the train for young ones

Animal cruelty/neglect observed at western park 'petting zoo'.
Veiwed goats locked in empty MUDDY pens with no cover or shelter or access to food. One pen contained a goat curled up on the only object contained within, a 1x1 Meter round wooden platform, sorounded by a sea of thick/deep mud with nothing to protect her from the wind, rain, cold, frost and no dry, firm area to stand. She was totally exposed to the elements with no way of retaining warmth.
Beyond this pen I noted more pens of similar condition containing 1-2 neglected goats in each.
What's going on and how are they allowed to get away with keeping animals in such appalling conditions?

The area is lovely, the train is good fun for the children.
We visited the farm...I do have concerns for the animals and the conditions they are in. I only hope they have another place to be transferred that provides them with a larger encloser grass and room to move around. Most of the drinking water (a bath tub is used) was dirty and full of leaves.

We took our grandchildren, ages 11 and 9 during recent school holidays. They had played here previously and were keen to have another go. Lots of hit and giggle and all-round fun.
We also had time for a refreshment (light meal and milkshakes) which we all enjoyed.
Location is great in Weston Park, lovely area close by to walk around, relax or have a picnic.

Visited with three young kids aged 6. 8 & 10. Played 36 holes of mini golf. Was up sold from 18 holes as only an additional $4 per person. Kids were keen to do the 36! Course is need of attention as some of the features are very neglected and falling apart. Not the worst I’ve played but far from the best. Average is a fair description.
If you want to visit the petting farm the only way to do so is to pay for the train and the farm. The petting farm is again very average. We were able to feed some llamas and sheep. There were also some chickens, ducks, horses (in an unreachable enclosure) and a cow and a goat. There were also a few budgies and other birds in cages.
Our whole experience (one adult and three young kids) without any food or drinks totalled $138 which in my opinion is over the top for what is offered. For similar money you could visit Canberra Zoo which is excellent.

We had our son's birthday party here with the mini farm and train ride. The train carriage was clean and well set up. The party food is great. The party host interacted very good with the kids. Tanya and her team were friendly and helpful.

Great experience for kids. Little ones will love the train ride (suitable for all ages) and animals, and older kids will love mini golf.
Be aware that you can only get to the animals via the train ride.
For warmer days, make sure to pack hats and sunscreen. There's not much shade.

We held a 10th birthday party for our daughter and her friends. The facility was great and the young support team were friendly helpful and had everything sorted. We did the train and mini zoo.
