What a disappointment.
If an uninspiring collection of tacky "handmade arts and crafts" with an overemphasis on gaudy ear rings is your thing, then this place is for you.
Stuff, you may tolerate at an country town church fate or car boot sale, where the village folks try to make a few bucks by selling their unwanted stuff from the boxes in the back of their shed. Desperate rubbish. Disappointing food and beverage options of the "ethnic" variety. Neither appealing, appetising, or particularly hygienic looking. With the exception of one stall selling pastry items.
Two definite thumbs down for this sad place.

It was our first visit to the markets and it didn't disappoint. We wandered around the stalls selling such a variety of goods, foods and trinkets enjoying a lazy Sunday. We were very pleased with our purchases. Good idea to have some cash with you.

One of the reasons we came to Canberra last weekend was to visit the interesting Old Bus Depot Markets. There is a fascinating array of goods and chattels displayed,, both old and new.You can find many unusual items there. There also is a food market where they sell fresh home baked breads, condiments and jams. This Market seems very popular with both locals and interstate visitors. We came here on a Sunday mid-morning, perfect for a snoop around and a nice Coffee in the Cafe. We were here for about two fun hours total.

We visited last Sunday with our 4 year old, 11 year old and 14 year old. The 11 and 14 year olds were happy to wonder around and look at things however our preschooler was less than keen.
From an adults perspective, the markets were well kept, clean and plenty of displays. The food was a good selection and catered for all tastes and dietary requirements including gluten free and vegan alternatives.
The stalls were relatively fair priced, what you would expect for a craft, handmade market. There were a couple of wooden and antique stalls which were particularly good. Overall it was a good 2 hours to walk around and sit and have a coffee and pastry. But I wouldn’t take the junior next time.

Hi mrsDenby84, Thanks for stopping by the Markets and sharing your review. You're right in that we do have a wide selection of food and handcrafted items available, and we hope you enjoyed them. Our theme days differ each week and our next kids day called Kids in the Shed will be on 9 June. We hope to see you back at the Markets :) Kind regards, Stephen & the OBDM Team

We went there in the afternoon but a lot of stuff were sold out and some stalls have started packing up.

Bought some nuts which is super yummy. I should have bought more. The lemon and ginger tea is special but too sweet for me. Orange juice is very good. My boys like the chicken wings.

Want to buy some handmade soap and cream but in vain ...a bit disappointed.

Hi Agnes, Thanks for taking the time to review OBDM. We do have a few stallholders who sell skin care products, however not all stallholders attend the markets every single week - the variety of stallholders is one of the reasons OBDM is such a popular market! It's great to hear that you had the opportunity to try out so many of the delicious food options on offer. We hope to see you return again soon. Kind regards, Katherine.

Today we went off to the Old Bus Depot Markets at Kingston. There are a number of craft stalls selling unusual quality craft. We find it particularly useful around Christmas time to purchase gifts you usually won't find in stores etc.

There is also some good food available here, do I suggest you also include lunch in your visit. The top part of the Markets usually contains the craft stalls and the lower part contains the food vendors etc with some plant sellers etc. After attending the Markets you can also check out the glassworks or take a stroll on the Kingston foreshore. 🌞🌞

Hi Steveoco, Thank you for taking the time leave the Old Bus Depot Markets a review. We love that you come by on a Saturday or Sunday in December (when Christmas trading commences) to get your Christmas shopping complete - we find a lot of shoppers love finding a gift at the Markets for that "hard-to-buy-for" person in their life. Thank you for stopping by and we hope to see you soon! Warm Regards, Katherine

Visited this Canberra stalwart on the multi-cultural food day so were treated to some wonderful examples from a number of cultures. There is a vibrancy and buzz about this market place with Canberrans strolling through the various stalls sampling the wares or admiring the work of the various local artisans who are regulars at these markets. The majority of the stalls only take cash so come prepared, but there are two ATMs if you get caught out.

Hi Karen P, Multicultural Sunday (the first Sunday of every month) is always a great time to visit the markets. The specialty stallholders who attend bring along a beautiful range of products. The perfect addition to our wonderful regulars who join us each Sunday! We hope to see you back at the markets again soon. Kind regards, Katherine
