Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This market was fabulous. There was much to see with lots of different stalls. The atmosphere was lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Worth a visit on a Sunday.

We were there the previous year as well. It seems to have gone down. There aren't enough shops and not enough different shops.
If you have nothing else to do then it might be worth a trip.

What a disappointment.
If an uninspiring collection of tacky "handmade arts and crafts" with an overemphasis on gaudy ear rings is your thing, then this place is for you.
Stuff, you may tolerate at an country town church fate or car boot sale, where the village folks try to make a few bucks by selling their unwanted stuff from the boxes in the back of their shed. Desperate rubbish. Disappointing food and beverage options of the "ethnic" variety. Neither appealing, appetising, or particularly hygienic looking. With the exception of one stall selling pastry items.
Two definite thumbs down for this sad place.

Slowest coffee in Canberra the two girls making coffee were the slowest baristas I’ve ever come across. They were forever stopping and touching their hair. Unbelievable

Great variety of items for home, clothing, garden and food stalls. Great atmosphere and ample space to move around
Before COVID-19 the markets used to be totally stocked with hundreds of stands and lots and lots of people visiting there, but this year was not as full but still good enough

After seeing this on TripAdvisor and advertised as a tourist attraction, I stopped in here on my way out of Canberra.
And was left underwhelmed. There wasn’t too many stalls set up when I visited, and nothing that grabbed me to buy. Some things in my opinion were overpriced.
It just wasn’t for me.

It was so lovely to come to the markets again after a long break. Not as many stalls as before but still a lot to look at... jewellery, bric a brac, knitted items, books and food stalls.

This Sunday-only market has to be one of my favourite markets with an eclectic mix of ready-to-eats foods, take home specialities, clothing, jewellery and arts/crafts. The macarons were amazing, the honey seller had a vast array and the tea seller had some unique blends. Plus the fact that we could by my daughter some anime posters of her favourite characters topped of our visit nicely.

It was our first visit to the markets and it didn't disappoint. We wandered around the stalls selling such a variety of goods, foods and trinkets enjoying a lazy Sunday. We were very pleased with our purchases. Good idea to have some cash with you.

Is it open again, as the last update seems to indicate it was closing in March 2020 due to COVID, over a year ago?

Hi Wilma,
As per the landlords requirements, dogs are unable to go inside the Old Bus Depot Markets unless they’re authorised Assistance Dogs i.e. Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs or Service Dogs. (FYI this info is on the website and on their Facebook page).
However, many people do bring their four legged friends along to the markets to take advantage of the outdoor seating areas - and have a friend run in to grab them something yummy to eat! :-)
