Come to the Mint, where every single Australian coin in the pockets of millions of Australians is made!

While wandering through the Mint's observation gallery you can look into the coin production factory and marvel at Titan, one of our great family of robots who help out with all the heavy lifting.

Spend some time in the theatrette where a video will take you behind the scenes to explain the fascinating process of making coins.

Check out the rare and historically significant coins on show from the National Coin Collection, which is held in the vaults of the Mint.

Mint your own collectable coin and browse the Mint Coin Shop where you can find great gifts, mementos of your visit or even start your own collection!

We offer free public tours twice daily Monday- Friday and three times daily on the weekends.

For a limited time only, private Tours of the Stuart Devlin - The Designer with the Midas Touch exhibition will run Monday - Friday at 11am and 3pm until the end of April 2017.

Luckily a presenter gave a talk to a group of children in open gallery while we were there, time it with a free tour is probably the way to go as her presentation on early currency was interesting - we then moved on prior to the group so don't know as to the rest of the presentation. Without a tour... More

Canberra Mint is an interesting place - it's a working mint, so you can walk along a glass walkway to look into the coin producing and sorting rooms. It's particularly interesting to view "Titan" the robot pick up 44 gallon drums with masses of gold coloured dollar coins in it and pour it. There is a cafe here too. You... More

I took my disabled mother to the Mint as she was over from the UK and collects Australian coins. The staff at the counters could not have been more helpful. That said, I didn't have my mother wheelchair with me. She was able to walk (just) the long distance between the disabled parks and the front doors.........but she had to... More

Thank you for sharing your concerns. Our café follows standard industry practice of serving lunch and hot meals until 2 pm (as specified on its menu board and themintcafe.com.au). Light refreshments are available until the Mint’s closing time. We’ll be sure to share your concerns about our handrail with our Facilities Management team. More

...I recently visited The Royal Australian Mint for the opening of the Stuart Devlin Exhibition...." the Designer with the Midas Touch''.....this gentleman is a great unsung Australian silver & goldsmith, from humble beginnings to becoming world famous for his designs & workmanship.....a multi-talented genius I would call him,no exaggeration...Now in his 80's & based for many years in England, this is a... Many thanks for the review. It is truly an honour for the Mint to display some of Stuart Devlin’s masterly work in our new exhibition. It gives us great pride that he has gone on to an amazing international career since designing coins for the Mint, and it’s wonderful to hear that Mint visitors are enjoying these glimpses into his... This tour was surprisingly fun & informative. There's so much more to money than spending it! It kept my 10 year old captivated.

Really interesting visit. Great to see the displays of all the coins and seeing where it all come from. A pity that the machines were not working. Will visit again to see it all working.

We caught a tour although it was a very crowded tour! Our tour guide was a lovely affable man who really knew his stuff and was enjoyable to listen to. It was helpful that there is a colouring in station in the main gallery for kids who get tired of listening to the tour and allowed for me to continue... More

Was surprised I would enjoy this place as much as I did! Definitely recommend the free tour as it gives you extra insight into the history of Australia's money system. Friendly and funny staff/tour guide, got you involved, lots to see with interactive sections.

I visited the Mint today and unfortunately missed the last tour. I found the artwork of the coins the most interesting. You get to see through to the factory but did not get to see much activity and not many people working. I would suggest arriving in time for a tour as you would probably get to see more and... More

Thanks for the review. We can’t speak highly enough of our guides and their talent for bringing the story of coins to life. However, we also encourage people to take advantage of our displays, exhibitions, interactive touchscreens and children’s activity books to get the most out of their Mint visit. More

its one of the best places to visit to gather information on how the money is made, the process of making coins was very interesting, not like the usual stuff we normally know. the 10 mins documentary showing history of money making in australia was very informative. the entire set up of having an exhibition place with glass panels to...
