Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have driven past the sign to Mt Pleasant many times. This visit we decided to explore. The lookout is poorly signposted but when you find it, the view is worth it. The lookout incorporates an Artillery Memorial with good signage. The view is expansive and gives a different view of Canberra’s highlights.

The views from Mount Pleasant, particularly of Lake Burley Griffin and some Canberra's better known buildings are superb. As Mount Pleasant is not as high as Mount Ainslie or Black Mountain, the perspective is more panoramic and interesting. It is less frequented than some of the other viewing points, which is good as there are fewer visitors. Access can be gained through the public roads running through the Royal Military College or the Australian Defence Force Academy. Worth the visit.

The Mt Pleasant lookout is less known about than Mt Ainsley. In saying that it provides a different aspect to the Nations Capital.
For military buffs Mt Pleasant provides a fantastic overlook of the grounds of Duntroon (the Royal Military College). Duntroon is Australia's premier officer training establishment (Westpoint, Sandhurst etc).
The journey to the top includes the grave of General Bridges who was the first commandant of Duntroon. General Bridges died of his wounds whilst commanding the 1st Australian Division in Gallipoli and was one of only two whose remains were returned to Australia. The summit includes the memorial of the Royal Australian Artillery Corps.
I highly recommend this lookout, not only for its view but for the significance of all around it.

Much better views of the lake in a more peaceful setting. Brilliant for both sunset and sunrise views.

I didn't realize Canberra was such a beautiful city but the view from here is amazing. Well worth the short drive up the hill.

In my opinion Mt Pleasant has some of the best views of any lookout or viewpoint in Canberra.
It is a lesser known viewpoint located at RMC Duntroon although it is open to the public.
It is a great place to stargaze, watch sunrises and sunsets, watch fireworks or just enjoy the scenery.

It is pretty difficult to figure out how it get here on foot. Looking on the map, I thought you could loop up to the top by taking Northcott Dr. This actually takes you way out of the way plus makes you walk through what seemed to be military housing-not exactly my cup of tea when in a foreign country. I never did find an actual trail head even once I made it to the lookout area, but it seems much easier to get to by car (you're looking for General Bridges Dr which circles up to the lookout point).
Really great views once I got there and very light visitor traffic.

A great view with excellent signage and historical storyboards, the canons certainly make a good backdrop for photos.

Mt Pleasant seems to have been relegated behind the better known Mt Ainslie, Black Mountain, and Red Hill lookouts. Even the Visitors Centre don't tell you about it.
Luckily we had heard of it, but it's a pity our GPS didn't know how to get to the lookout! We had a 15 minute tour up and down so many streets within Duntroon before the GPS finally sorted itself out and got us to the top.
Views are definitely as good as the other lookouts, and it is less crowded.

Does anyone know if you can do an actual tour of the Royal Military College?

From Anzac Parade take Fairbairn Avenue (at north eastern end of Anzac Parade) , then take General Bridges Drive which will take you to the top.
