Lanyon Homestead lies at the foot of the Brindabella Ranges and is one of Australia’s premier historic properties. The Precinct’s centrepiece, the 1850's Homestead, has been beautifully restored and furnished.

Set within superb gardens the Lanyon includes an historic homestead and outbuildings sited within a working rural property.

Sheep and cattle still graze on the timbered hills and fertile banks of the Murrumbidgee river.

Admission includes a guided tour of the Homestead.

Lanyon also offers a range of exciting community and learning programs and special events.

We also provide unique venues for weddings, anniversaries and other celebrations.

The enticing Lanyon Cafe has spectacular views and is a popular destination for week day luncheons and a weekend breakfast.

Took a trip out to this homestead - about 40 minutes from the centre of Canberra. It is situated up a gravel road from the main road and is no problem for any vehicle in the dry. Much in the house is as it was years back, thankfully, and the outbuildings have stood the test of time. The fruit, vegetable... More

A guide showed around the house - well only part of the house for a nominal charge. She was well versed in the life style of its prior inhabitants and made the short tour interesting

We made a point of going to this attraction because of the history attached to it. The restoration work of the main house and the surrounds outhouses has been well done. The ladys at reception were most informative and helpful. The garden areas and courtyards have been looked after very nicely. We were glad that we went there.

Short drive from Kingston a step back to the colonial era at this homestead & outbuildings owned by ACT Government - saved from developers by Tom Uren. Need at least two hours to explore the house with friendly guide - small charge- each room had a function explained by guide. Outbuildings included convict built stone barn, stables, blacksmith, kitchen, cool... More

Out of the way, so you need transport. We were traveling on a Denes coach with driver Col who was a very good driver and very friendly. As there were 36 of us, we were split up into groups on arrival and our guides told us the interesting history of the house. We had a delightful lunch in a marquee... More

What a pleasant place to sit and have a drink and a bite to eat. Quaint and interesting place with a lot to see. Beautiful location - feels like you are really in the bush. I loved the Welsh Rarebit for lunch. Love this place. Hidden gem.

We went here for a wedding. It was held in the gardens and it was an absolutely stunning venue. Highly recommended as a wedding venue.
