free admission, you can join the tour or just roam around. Its pretty cool to be able to see the hall of senate and HOR. there are exhibitions about australian politics in there too.

We visited the Australian Parliament House in Canberra on a non working day (Saturday) so we were able to see the interior and take pictures. Outside on the roof top you get a lovely view.

As far as I know, all other areas are open when the Houses are sitting, but the helpful staff will advise you.
