Ehukai aka Pipeline is iconic for big wave surfing in winter so that's when I visited. It was probably a bit early in the season for really big waves but I was still excited to visit. It had been recommended not to swim due to the rough unpredictable conditions at that time of year so I was surprised at the... More

Gorgeous beach to watch surfers. Travel to the north shore during the weekday when traffic is light to ensure parking. Sand is soft to relax on so bring your beach chairs, blankets, but keep your snorkel at home cause the current is strong. Good place for dogs. North Shore loves dogs but the beach is not legally dog friendly.

Fantastic beach with fantastic waves and soft sand. Be careful though when you swim as currents are strong.

I went here just to see the surfers. On the day that I went the water was a little murky and the waves were not that big so there wasn't a lot of surfing to watch. Some people got up but nothing cool. It's a decent looking beach. But Oahu has better looking ones.

We aren't surfers but stopped to watch because of the reputation of this beach as one of the top spots in the US. Despite smaller waves in the summer when we visited, these waves were still larger than were used to seeing in the way coast and certainly challenging. Lifeguards nearby said they go in "fairly regularly" to rescue people... More

Once you find a parking spot, pick a spot and take in the power of the ocean. The breaking waves, though not always 25 ft., are beautiful, and you should get some dramatic photos. In the morning, you'll find a lot of surfers heading out to catch their waves.

Huge surf waves. I recommend getting there before sunrise so that you can get a parking spot, and then enjoy the sun coming up behind you. Surfers will start heading out as the light comes up

Ehukai "sea spray" Beach is a fantastic place to enjoy the sheer power of the ocean, catch a beautiful sunset, and watch world class surfers attempt to handle the monster waves of winter without being mashed into the shallow and dangerous reef below. The lifeguards keep a close eye on you, for good reason, and while there with my wife... More

The Billabong pro - triple crown is held here. It's a great experience and when pipeline is pumping it's incredible to watch the world class surfers braving giant 20ft+ waves - they make it look so easy. It gets extremely crowded during this time and can be very hard to park if you are not staying in the area. There... More

We took a trip around Oahu, starting in Waikiki, and of course, the Banzai Pipeline was a "must-see" place. It is unique, as the surf on the north shore of Oahu is fantastic. The Ehukai Beach Park is gorgeous. The one real downer is the traffic. It took us about 90 minutes to travel 1.9 miles. There were just so... More
