Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We walked down to the Snug Falls on a beautiful sunny afternoon and even though the climb back was steep we made it back to the road and the car.

You drive 4 kms from the township of Snug. It is a drive to be wary of as passing another car coming from the opposite direction takes a little concentration and low speed. Once you get there you park the car and then descent 2 kms along a rough track to the falls. The track is pitted with landmines of rocks and tree roots and you need to pay a lot of attention to where you put your feet. The track itself is mainly clay and gravel and I find that interesting as the website tells you the best time to view the falls is after a heavy rain. I think if there was a heavy rain that track would be near impossible to negotiate. Once you are at the bottom you can boulder hop to find the best locations to take your photos, then build up on oxygen levels to start the trip back to the car park. It's steep and will take a little effort. Average fitness will get you to the top but you may have to take several rest stops along the way.

Just a short drive up a decent gravel road to the carpark. Then the nice walk is approximately a 30 - 40 walk down to the falls. It's not the best of tracks if you're not fit, having tree roots and some parts rocky but I think its well worth the effort. The walk back is a litte harder but there is a few park benches along the way to rest if needed. We have been when the falls are just a trickle and also just after rain, both times just as good. I would say that its not a well known spot so mainly used by the locals. It has a lovely feel, good to just sit and enjoy nature and take it all in.

A great young family walk, particularly after heavy rainfall. Good track decends to the falls and takes about 30 minutes. A lot of water during spring and autumn, not recommended during summer, mosies and flow reduced to a trickle during summer months.

We enjoyed a pleasant bush walk down to the Snug Falls. It's an easy walk in terms of having a good path to follow, with minimal obstacles, but remember it's an uphill walk getting back! The road to the start of the falls is a bit of a worry, as it's single lane in many parts, with a few passing areas here and there. Be careful!

Lovely walk through the bush to get to this waterfall, downhill on the way so uphill all the way back but not steep and mostly shady. We stopped on our way home from Bruny Island on the way back to Hobart. Great if you want to do something that doesn't take a full day. It hadn't rained in a while so it wasn't flowing heavily but was still lovely. Not very crowded which is always a bonus

Whilst the falls were not huge the walk there was great. The rock caverns along the way were spectacular. I don't think it is really 45 mins especially stopping to take photos.
The downhill is tricky and a bit rough so wear good shoes. Coming back up is way quicker.
The road up is entertaining with people having no clue they should pull over when they have the pullover on their side so take care.

Ok the walk isn't that bad. Just took me longer :S. Well worth it though. Waterfall wasn't too big when we went but just after rain I bet it flows nicely.

Snug Falls is one of my favourite local places to visit.
The walk is reasonably easy for people of decent fitness, although it can be steep and slippery in places. The falls can are often little more than a trickle in summer, so visit after rain for best results.
If you make it to Snug Falls, also consider visiting Kiernans Falls, barely 150 metres away on a tributary creek (meaning that it is dry for good parts of the year). Look for some pink ribbons just before the stairs at the end of the descent to Snug Falls, and follow the ribbons to the falls, crossing the Snug River along the way. The walk is quite hard as there is no track, and the final part of the walk is very steep, but if it has been raining and you have good waterproof boots on it is worth the effort to check out Kiernans Falls.
At any rate, defiantly a great place.

I spend a peaceful morning exploring the area by myself. A down hill walk over rough ground, and then the climb back up. Unfortunately on return trip I was confronted twice by people with little snappy and aggressive dogs. Two were off leads , the other three on leads. I suggest you go early to avoid crowds, dogs and noisy people who don't appreciate the peacefulness of the lovely area. There was plenty of water falling down the falls despite no rain in the area for awhile. It was also a bit disappointing to see that there have also been inconsiderate people that have left toilet paper and similar lying exposed along parts of the track.
One hint if you have young children who are not confident walkers, you might be in for a big effort to carry them up and down the track! Enjoy the scenery and fresh air.

Gday Peter, we'll be towing a small camper trailer. Is there room at parking area for turn around?

Yes, if there isn't many cars you could park lengthways.
