Beautiful location and impressive defensive structure

We visited in March, so the castle was still closed for the season, but it was still worth the trip from Brno. Can recommend the steep "park" outside the main gate.

It is a marvelous place. The castle of Tolkien's stories. The best journey is to walk up to the castle from the parking lot or take a small-gauge train (yuck). Anyway, must see.

One of our best castles, beautiful and picturesque. You can find it in many movies, especially fairy tales. The guided tour makes sense, the interior is well arranged. The girl who guided us (in czech language, we are Czechs) was very nice and heartfelt. In the chimney in kitchen lives the small bats, we awakened one. Kids loves it. There... More

Since it was New Year's Day the castle was closed for visiting. Yet, we've been impressed by it's external shape and majesty. Definitely will come back to see it in it's full grandeur!

This is one of the Czech Republic's best castles, in my opinion. It's an extensive complex with a distinctive tower and good fortification systems. I took tour A, which was more than an hour long and gave the feel sometimes of a CASTLE and sometimes of a palace. There's a restaurant on the grounds or you can find a nook... More

Very nice old castle. It is not suitable for small children, it is uphill and also road are what you expect from Middle Age. Specially during eastern there are some special attractions which is good.

Quite a climb to this castle, up a steep path from the parking lot to the castle, then many stairs into the castle and then many stairs in the castle including some winding ones without handrails. Easy to see why this castle was successfully defended. However the views of the countryside are spectacular. The castle itself is interesting. The tours... More

We were travelling to Brno for a flight from Trest and had a couple of spare hours to kill and decided to see this castle. We just put "Pernstejn" in the Sat Nav and set off. We got to within half a mile of the castle with no signs for it, or any sign of the castle and were a... More
