Lovely gardens even in December. We paid 16€ entrance fee each, but it's definitely worth it! Great guides who also know English very well, many details to spot and analyze, around 5-6 rooms out of 20 are available for observation. We spend 2.5h hours there :) it's a great experience overall!

We visited the castle with the prime aim of the fair and shopping - and were delighted to find a fantastic Christmas fair as well as a stunning castle we could visit. There was a huge selection of stalls and food. The best thing about the fair was that it wasn't just Xmas stuff - there was an excellent range... More

Already in the 12 century, a stronghold was mentioned in this place; in the 14th century the original castle was built. Time was not beneficent for Castle De Haar; in waning of the 19th century, due to centuries of fighting and mishap, only a ruin was left. Then, the owners, the Van Zuylen Van Nyevelt noble family, decided to restore... More

Ok, the place is just beautiful. My god, the gardens, the castle, the old furniture! The place is breathtaking and I'd recommend for a picnic in the summer. The inside is also interesting in the sense it has information regarding the castle construction and it's owners, the audiotour helps and it's cheap. Unfortunately, the guided tour of the rooms and... More

The castle is located about 40 minutes via transportation outside of the city of Utrecht. We took the sprinter train (not the intercity line) to Vleuten, then we were supposed to get the #111 bus to the castle. Unfortunately, the #111 runs only 2 days were week in the off season. We were also told that you can buy tickets... More

This is one of the most gorgeous and grand chateaux, and worth visiting even though it is extensively restored. There were nice films explaining the restoration, a good amount of history, and sufficiently good cards in English in each room explaining the furnishings and decorations that we did not miss having the audio tour (extra charge). The staff in each... More

I was there for a walk on Sunday, it was very nice. The castel and the gardens are beautiful. Good if you want to escape the city.

I absolutely loved the place. Ja steel de Haar looks like it came out directly from a fairy tale. It has been incredibly well preserved throughout the years, and both the interior and exterior of the castle are truly impressive. Definitely worth the visit!

Luxurious castle built in early 20th century to host parties for celebrities and nobles. The castle seems like out of a fairytale and also has great surrounding gardens.

A very impressive castle with even more impressive gardens around here. Deffiently a hidden gem and a must in The Netherlands. Didn't go inside though, rather expansive and I'm not sure why ($ Euros for the gardens, 16 ADDITIONAL Euros for the palace).
