About Hook-A-Barra
Hook-a-Barra at the Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm offers fishers and non-fishers the chance to lure and land on of Queensland's most prized fish, not only for its fight but also for its delicious eating. This fun and informative experience includes one hour of catch and release barra fishing with all equipment, tackle, bait and tuition included plus access to special viewing tanks. Hook-a-Barra's multi-species ponds are stocked with over 1500 barramundi ranging from 50cm to over a meter, but don't be fooled - these fish are wild creatures and are not trained to jump on your hook, so our expert fishing guides are on hand to help you perfect your techniques, land your spoils and learn more about this iconic species.

I wanted the 8 and 10 year olds to catch a barra. One had never fished much less used a lure. The other had not lured a barra before. Both caught several fish and were assisted by the staff to master the basics. Viewing the large fish was also of interest. Very successful day.

We love teaching people how to lure and land these magnificent fish! Being keen to try is the only entry requirement :)

We had a lot of fun even though it was pouring down rain. You can see how much my wife enjoyed the experience by looking at the photos. I fully recommend a trip anytime you are in Cairns

As it was our first visit we decided to do the full gourmet farm tour. The farm tour was very informative and we were able to catch two nice barra each during the tour. Not so much luck when we were fishing in the main fishing pond but we still enjoyed having a go. We both very much enjoyed the tasting plate of gyoza, sashimi and smoked barramundi.

A great tour and tour guide with great knowledge into the way the Barramundi Industry works. We really enjoyed our day out and I recommend to tack on the fishing at the end.
