Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The citadel is reached by a short uphill path, externally the Citadel looks impressive with its brickwork, but internally there is little too see. The Museums have some local artifacts, but only mildly interesting. There are good views across the local countryside which provide the rationale for building the Citadel in this location.

The museum is part of the Gremi citadel and worth a visit while visiting the area. Interesting artefacts and friendly staff.

A nice museum, detailing the history of how this area went from the centre of the region to being what it is today. There are a few examples of the historical past, inside also the citadel where you can find paintings and examples of the robes and armour used in the day. Worth a visit as it also gives you some marvellous views from the tower.

Of course, you can consider Gremi Citadel a museum and you would be right in doing so, because in the castle you can find many explanations. Apart from that, I would advise you to look around the "real" museum next to the parking lot. It presents some interesting exhibits from the history of Gremi and from the times of the Silk Road.

One of the stops in our day tour around the Kakheti region. Small museum with guide is easily done in 15 minutes, but you can wander the rest of the complex. Some great views into the valley helped us enjoy a beautiful spring day.

If you're near by Kvareli or Telavi, you must visit che Gremi fortress: it's a jump in the past!
Despite it's very difficult to climb, go up to the tower to see the beautiful view of the valley but...be careful on the way back, the stairs are really small and dangerous!

The museum itself is small and not much to see. Certain part is quite dark too. But the view on top is nice. Be careful of the steep steps though. Definitely not a suitable place to go if its wet as the steps can be slippery which will be dangerous.

Gremi is a 16th-century architectural monument – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels – in Kakheti, Georgia. The complex is what has survived from the once flourishing town of Gremi and is located east of the present-day village of the same name in the Kvareli district, 175 kilometers east of Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. it is situated high on a hill with steps leading up to it and has a fantastic view of the valley.

The location and outdoor views are the main attraction here, but do use a guide to find out the history. The museum was in a bit of a mess when we visited with renovations underway meaning stepping around builders and scaffolding etc. The builders kindly stopped their drills while we visited (and had a rest and a smoke!). The artefacts and explanations were fairly interesting, and hopefully after the renovations are complete the experience will be better.
