This santuario is a must see for every cycling fan as it's a nice (and free) museum of not only the Tour of Lombardy but also beyond. There is also a bigger museum next door. It makes it even more special if you have first cycled the Madonna del Ghisallo yourself from Bellagio. In front of the chapel are also some statues of iconic Italian cyclists. The view on the surrounding mountains is spectacular.

Spotted after a little research, it was a real pleasant surprise: The church and 'small but located in a place with a lovely view. We were there on a beautiful sunny day and the mountains and the lake surrounding the Sanctuary offered us a spectacular view...! The church is rich in historical relics and memories as well as of course the image of the Madonna del Ghisallo protector of cyclists. Near the Sanctuary there is the Museum of cycling... beautiful and complete that is worth a visit and a little further on - for those who are fond of Big Bench - there is a bench with panoramic view of the Lake.

Wow, what an unusual church. The floors, the walls, all covered with pro-bicycling memorabilia. It is very small, but if you spent time looking at every exhibit, you can stay for a while there. Once you walk out, and see all the bicyclists around, you just want to come up to them and shake their hand.
The elevated views on the lake are steps away from the church and are very nice.
Lastly, there is a cycling museum next door.

We cycled up from Bellagio and hadn’t realised that this Chapel is a must see for all cyclists, felt quite humbling to see all the memorials inside to past cyclists. The memorabilia is quite amazing to witness. Would highly recommend any cycling enthusiast to visit this place, it’s very special.

I had read so much about this before visiting as well as seeing it on TV during the Tour of Lombardy and various Giri.
Every keen cyclist should visit as it has an amazing collection of cycling memorabilia. Great for cyclists.

Stayed two nights in Magreglio just 800 meters from the chapel which made it a must to visit. This is a chapel dedicated to cyclists which means it has bikes everywhere...

Santuario Madonna del Ghisallo is a beautiful and tiny church located in a road near Lago di Como, in the lakes region, in the North part of Italy. In fact, from here you can see very pretty views of surroundings or visit the Cyclists Museum. In fact, this church is dedicated to the cyclists. It is the protector of cyclists! so, in the inner part of the church, you can see some objects related with this sport. Very beautiful. Also, we arrived here the day that Giro de Italia comes here. It was really wonderful!

The small chapel on the mountaintop is a sanctuary for cyclers. Inside bycycles hang from the ceiling. There are pictures, prices and all kinds of memoribilia concerned with bicycling tournaments and the masters of such competitions. Outside there are busts of famous champions and racers plus a sculpture depitching very vividly glory and defeat in bicycle races. The view from this place is also spectacular.

The Madonna del Ghisallo (a painting of the Virgin Mary) was designated the patroness of cyclists by Pope Pius XII in 1949. The small sanctuary has been fill with bikes, jerseys, and other memorabilia of Italian cycling. In 2006, the Museo del Ciclismo was opened next door. The museum is a treasure trove of bicycles, tools, jerseys, and all things cycling. If you are near Bellagio, you must visit. If you dare, ride your bike there!
